Introducing One Of The World's Best Meditation Teachers | Emily Fletcher

This YouTube video (hosted by Vishen Lakhiani) introduces meditation teacher Emily Fletcher and promotes a masterclass on modern meditation techniques. Vishen frames the need for a new, modern meditation program from Mindvalley and cites "some 1500 studies" (as of 2015) supporting meditation's broad benefits. Emily Fletcher (founder of Ziva Meditation) gives a personal testimony—her past Broadway career, severe anxiety and insomnia, and transformation through meditation—and previews the masterclass content: neuroscience of stress, exercises to reframe stress, two meditation techniques, and guided visualization. Vishen contrasts traditional monastic meditation with a modern, performance-oriented approach that Emily teaches.

So in my mission to bring meditation to millions of people, I've worked on many amazing projects, from apps like Omvana to festivals like A Fest, programs like the Envisioning Method and omharmonics, and my book, the New York Times bestseller, the Code of the Extraordinary Minor. And over the years, mindvalley has supported the works of over a hundred meditation teachers. And it's no Wonder. As of 2015, some 1500 studies have been done that show that meditation improves just as about every dimension of your being, from your longevity to the way you feel and look, to your creative potential, to how you function as a CEO, to your ability to make an impact in the world, to even how you connect with your spouse, your kids, how you do in bed, and how you age. All of us should be doing it, but yet we don't. And for good reason. It's tough. It's complex. It gets boring. And with so many varieties and types, how do you even know where to begin? Plus, it's challenging. I mean, staying focused, not falling asleep, clearing your mind, not getting bored out of your mind. Meditation can be tough. But still, remember, 1500 studies, and when you get it, it changes you. It makes you a whole new you. I believe every man, woman, and child should be meditating every single day. So this past year, despite all our previous work in meditation, we set a goal to develop a new kind of meditation training that takes everything to the next level and can be used to train everyone. I made a commitment to my audience in 2017. Any program by Mindvalley has to be the best of its kind in the world. And so if we're doing a meditation program, we have to make it the singular best meditation program of its kind in the world. And I believe we've done this. You'll hear about this new program called the N Word. So, but today, I want to talk about that great meditation teacher. Her name is Emily Fletcher, and I'd like to invite you to join Emily and I in a special masterclass on how to use meditation to become a superstar at work and life. Emily?
Okay. All right, here we go. Hi, friends. I'm Emily Fletcher. I'm the founder of Ziva Meditation, and I'm so thrilled that you've decided to join me for this masterclass. I'm really looking forward to it. So, as you may know, I've had the pleasure and the honor of teaching meditation all over the world. I've been invited to speak at Google Harvard Business School, and I've helped over 4,000 people start the meditation practice, and this really means the world to me because meditation changed my life so profoundly. Before I had a daily meditation practice, my life was very different. I was on Broadway and I was suffering from pretty extreme anxiety, intense insomnia. I was going gray at 27 and to be honest, I was sucking at my job. And once I found this practice, it's transformed things so profoundly for me that I really love being able to share these tools with other people who are ready to learn. So what we're going to do on this masterclass is really demystify meditation. We're going to talk about the neuroscience behind why it's such a powerful stress relieving tool and how having less stress in your body helps you perform at the top of your game. We're going to cover the science behind why meditation helps here in science, alleviate anxiety and ultimately allow you to be the most amazing version of you. Some of the things that I'm most excited about is that we're actually going to walk through some exercises together. One is going to help you reframe what your relationship is with stress right now. And then I'm going to share two of my very favorite meditation techniques with you and I'm going to walk you through some guided visualization work. So I'm so looking forward to us going on this journey together. It's going to be really special and you're going to learn some tangible tools you can take away from with you and start to utilize right away.
So I know what you're thinking. Where's her robe, her Indian accent? Why no incense sticks? Well, that's because you're likely confusing monastic practices of meditation with modern practices of meditation. See, there are two types of meditation. According to Emily. Monastic meditation is what originated in the east thousands of years ago. It's about clearing your mind, focusing on mantras or breath. It's a beautiful spiritual practice. But if you're trying this out in the modern world, it's not going to be easy, nor may it be the best form of meditation for you. Monks many years ago could afford to disappear from society and meditate for hours. They had no family, no kids, no WhatsApp messages or game of Thrones reruns. But in the modern world, we need a different type of meditation. Not one about clearing your mind or finding places of absolute silence, but a type that actually can help you elevate yourself not just spiritually, but in your ability to function in the real world, to be better at your career, to better, to improve your health, to improve your love and sex lives. To boost your creativity if you're in an artistic profession, to boost your ability to connect with others. This style exists, and it's what Emily teaches, and I'm such a big fan of it. And the clue, it's not about clearing your mind. So join us on this masterclass and learn more. Back to you, Emily.
So if you like what you've seen so far and you want to take things to the next level, I invite you to join me for this masterclass. Going to be really special, and you're going to learn some tangible tools you can take away with you and start to utilize right away. So if you're interested, why don't you go ahead and sign up for that masterclass right now? Or now? Are you doing it now? Now you should do it.
