How many times have you found yourself in the situation with someone that you want to connect with, but you literally bombed? Have you ever wanted to instantly connect with someone you just met? Maybe at a business networking event, Maybe a new person who joined your company, maybe someone on a date? Well, the New York Times once published a beautiful article based on the research of psychologist Arthur Aron. And it was about how to create deep mutual connection. And it suggests that that there are specific questions you can bring up in a conversation that create such a deep sense of connection that you almost feel more connected to this new person as you might with an old friend. So if you're ready, these are the five questions. And to go deeper on them, I'm gonna bring in Keith Farazi, our newest author in Mindvalley behind our Authentic Networking Mastery program. The first question is this. What in life do you feel most grateful for? This question opens up such a huge amount of possibilities in the conversation.
What I want for you is the ability to have a conversation with another individual that allows you to deeply connect with that individual fast, to truly be unforgettable.
The second question is interesting. Share a personal problem and ask the other person's advice on how they they might handle it.
Some of the things that are so important to recognize is that making an intimate connection with another individual is a two way street. Not only do you have to deeply care about that individual and extracting information so that you can learn and explore more about that person, but you've got to be willing to share about yourself, open yourself up and invite another individual in to build a relationship with you that would be memorable, that will be more deep.
The third question is about your goals. Discuss something you've dreamed about doing for a long time.
I talk about career and what I'm doing and my passions and my dreams and my hopes and my goals. And I ask other individuals what are their passions, dreams, hopes, goals, what are they doing and where do they want to go next? It's so important to be authentic. It's so important to share yourself and at the same time invite another individual to share themselves.
The fourth one can make some people uncomfortable. Ask how do you feel about your relationship with your parents or your kids or your family or your partner.
It's so important to be authentic. Share the things that are true going on in your life. I often talk about my foster children, what it's like to be a father of two boys who came into my home at 12 and 16 and are now in their 20s, and some of the struggles and the challenges associated with that.
And the final question is, if you could change anything about the way you were raised, what would it be?
Now, don't be afraid to share struggles and fears. This level of vulnerability actually opens up yourself and invites another individual into a much deeper relationship.
