And what we're going to be talking about today, in addition to all of your accomplishments, is really your new book, Unfinished, that came out yesterday. I want to share with you what I thought was my favorite paragraph from your book. I highlighted this. I'm a writer myself and so when I see good prose with a meaning, I highlight it. And I love this. Would you mind if I ask you to read this paragraph?
Okay. Loss happens. Failure happens. Sorrow happens. I can't always control where I'm headed either. Sometimes sadness is the destination, whether or not it's where I want to go. During my time there, I had to learn to trust that I was visiting for a reason, but that it would not be my permanent place of residence. My forever state of being that like water, I would flow past it and eventually end up where I was meant to be.
What does that paragraph mean to you? If you could leave us with a final idea.
I think the thing to understand with sadness and that this again, took me a long time to come to this place.
Place.
But sadness is a companion. You have to accept that. You know, it'll come. Some days, it'll go some days. Happiness and sadness, mountains and values, good and bad, is a part of life. The thing to remember is it's never your permanent state of being. This too shall pass. Everything passes. Time is the best healer. And if we remember that and believe that, it just takes away the pressure and the power from whatever feeling that is, whether it's sadness, anger, loss, it just takes away its power. Because you know there's going to be a day where it won't be as powerful. Sa.
