Jim Kwik opens the video by noting that reading is a learned skill typically taught in early childhood (around age 6–7) and argues that although reading demands have increased, most adults still read at a childlike level. He highlights that people upgrade devices more often than their reading ability and invites viewers to a free Mindvalley masterclass where he will teach secrets of speed reading so they "no longer read like a six year old."

Isn't it extraordinary what the human mind is capable of doing? You're able to read that fast? What else is possible? Here's the thing. When it comes to reading, reading is a skill that you learn. How'd you learn it? You learned it through study. You learned it through class. But here's the question. When's the last time you took a class that was called reading? How old were you? You were probably 6, maybe 7 years old. Let me ask you a question. Has the difficulty and demand increased significantly since you were a child? Of course it has. Yet we're still reading like we're six years old. But here's the message. We upgrade our phones more than we upgrade our reading abilities and our power of our mind. So I would like to invite you to a free masterclass by Mindvalley where I'm going to share with you the secrets to speed reading so you no longer read like a six year old. Sam.
