A first-person monologue describing the speaker’s transformative experience using neurofeedback and computer-assisted meditation. Claims include that five days of neurofeedback produced the same brain state as 40 years of daily meditation; a child with autism ('Bobby') showed dramatic improvement after neurofeedback; the speaker has used computer-assisted meditation for ~25 years and credits it with improved mental states.
Chapters
At the end of five days, they have the same brain state as someone who's meditated daily for 40 years. About 25 years ago, when I was trying to fix my brain, I weighed 300 pounds. Challenging career in Silicon Valley. And I can't remember anything. At the end of the day, I am exhausted all the time. My brain was failing. Then I found out about neurofeedback, where they hook a computer up to your brain and then they show you your brain waves so that you can make them better. And I go in there. This is a little outside my comfort zone. This little kid runs up and just starts screaming, being like. And runs in a circle around me dozens of times. So I go into my training, come back six weeks later, same little kids in the office trying to hide. And he comes up, hi, my name's Bobby. Like, what just happened? This neurofeedback has changed him entirely. He has autism. I'm like, oh, my God, this thing can work. So I bought a machine, and I've been doing computer assisted meditation for 25 years. You can go through and edit the triggers in your body and reach states of peace and connectedness that are really, really hard to do otherwise.
