The 6 Types Of Hunger And What They Mean | Vishen Lakhiani

Vishen Lakhiani presents a short overview of the 'six types of hunger' as a preview for a Mindvalley masterclass (featuring Eric Edmeads and the WildFit program). He defines six distinct hungers (variety, low-blood-sugar, nutritional, thirst, emotional, and empty-stomach), explains how mislearned habits and industry messaging influence eating, and promotes WildFit as a way to retrain biology and transform health.

Quick insight for you today. I want to show you what's on my dining table. So what you're seeing over here are six objects representing the six types of hunger. So what are the six types of hunger? Well, this week on Mindvalley, I'm airing a masterclass that I just filmed in Tallinn with the amazing Eric Edmeads on Wildfit. Now, for those of you who haven't heard, Wildfit is a mindvalley program focused on nutrition and and retraining your brain in terms of how you relate to food. Most of us have been brainwashed when it comes to food, primarily from big food companies. We've been thought to crave things that are not good for us to overeat, things that poison our body. And then diet companies come in and tell us that we can lose weight with dieting ideas, which are often unscientific, obsolete, and just really, really, really bad. Here's the important thing you need to know. 80 to 90% of your body shape has to do with the food you eat. Not exercise, but the food you eat. Therefore, if you are looking to lose weight so you want to feel better, the first thing you got to fix is food. Only then you go on to things like 10x and other exercise routines. And now one of the ideas we're going to cover is a concept called the six forms of hunger. I'm going to give you an overview now, and then we're going to go deep in the masterclass to explore this further. Let's jump into this one. This is called variety hunger. What you're seeing here is a delicious, exotic Estonian chocolate. Estonians are so freaking good with the chocolate, which is so freaking dangerous if you're trying to be healthy in this country. By the way, this chocolate has sat on my table for one month because I eat very little of it. So this represents variety. This is a hunger where your body literally wants you to eat different types of food. Because in the days before agriculture, we relied on variety to get a wide array of nutrients into our bodies, including the right form of bacteria for our gut. So variety is a form of hunger. Now, the second form of hunger represented by this pizza is low blood sugar hunger. This one is quite common. You need to put carbs. You need to put sugar in your body to give you that boost of energy. However, this hunger is really interesting. When people do Wildfit, you train your body to go from craving carbs to actually burning carbs, the fat that your body already is carrying. All of us carry about a quarter million Calories of fat. That's about around the average when you are on wildfit. Okay, look at my finger here. Your body is used to burning carbs. Carbs, carbs, carbs, carbs. And around week six of WildFit, we flip that engine to start burning fat. And what happens then is you literally start melting. I mean, I've shared my before after photos with you. I went from 22% body fat to 15% body fat in three months on WildFit. And that has to do with how we retrain your biology. Now the next form of hunger is nutritional hunger. This is when your body is telling you to eat more nutritious foods. So you can eat pizza, but you can still feel hungry because there isn't much nutritional content in bread and cheese. And therefore the extra hunger that you feel is your body craving fruits or veggies or other nutritional nutritious things. Now the next form of hunger is thirst. Now here's something really interesting. Thousands of years ago, clean water wasn't readily available. So our great great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandparents often ate fruits to get the water that they needed. In other words, they ate water rich products. This is why our biology, sometimes when it craves water, it induces a feeling that we mistake as hunger. But often just drinking a glass of water can eliminate that. Now the next form of hunger is induced by our culture, by our society, by our parents, and it is emotional hunger. Okay, when you. This is why when you go through a breakup, when you miss a loved one, you eat ice cream. My mom was just telling me that when she missed her granddaughter Eve, she started eating a lot of ice cream and cake. This is emotional hunger. So these are the six forms of hunger. And of course the sixth one is simply empty stomach. Empty stomach is a legit form of hunger, but it doesn't mean you have to take action on it. More on that in the masterclass. So go deeper with me and Eric in this masterclass and what we're going to teach you is how to understand the psychology of food and how to transform your health. And here we are talking about not just losing weight, but total health transformation. Your skin, your longevity, your metabolic rate, all by learning the right approach to eating. I mean, if you look at many countries right now we are seeing obesity rates over 40% for adults. And we got to do something about that. So again, if you're interested in really transforming the way you eat and thus your health overall, go join us in this masterclass. And if you want to see what people are saying. Go to stories.mindvalley.com Search for WildFit and read the hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds of stories in the four after photos of people who have done Wildfit. I'll see you there.
