The Power of the "Tribe Effect"

I've met some of my best friends in the world. I feel accepted, I feel validated because you can inspire each other and that's so important. They felt like a community right at, right at the beginning. Even the more that you talk with people here, it's just a non stop like wave of love and knowledge. Most people don't understand what Mindvalley is, but neither did we until a little experiment we were doing started taking off. So a lot of people think mindvalley is an online education company or a publishing company known for its learning design. But the, the fact is that's just one tiny piece of it. See, over the years we've found that the number one thing that makes a difference in our students lives is not fancy tech, but something far more powerful. We started calling it the Tribe Effect. And more than anything else, it's this Tribe effect that shapes everything we do lately. For instance, you might have heard of mindvalley Quest, a new learning platform that's taken off like crazy. But what makes Mindvalley Quest special is not the tech. It's the fact that every single course on Quest must be taken as a community. Students start the course together, connect around the world together, they support each other, they move each other along, they create V logs to share their insights, and ultimately they cross the finishing line together. The result is phenomenal personal transformation and a course completion rate that's significantly higher than industry averages. In other words, that Tribe effect. But it goes beyond just that. Did you know our tribe is also behind our most popular festival? Every six months, our customers, teachers, celebrity guests gather in a paradise location for four days of bonding and intensive growth. It's called a fest, but that name itself came from the tribe. The event is hosted by tribe members and our tribe even told us look, cut down on the speakers, give us opportunities to bond, to connect. We want parties, we want to mingle in the evenings at a bar, we want to dance with each other. And that became the core genesis of a fest. Speaking of events, the tribe also comes together once a year at something called Mindvalley Reunion. An intimate setting where our students meet up, teachers meet our team. And everyone who has been connecting in these virtual communities online now get to connect in the real world and actually exchange hugs. And that's where the magic happens. But here's my favorite example. We wanted to really push the limits of this Tribe Effect and see, and this was a crazy idea, but could we get a community to move to a new city together for 30 days and bring their families and co Workers. Well, as crazy as it sounds, it happened this year in Barcelona. And now it's an annual event called MindValleyU. For 30 days a year, many of our tribe members take their family and their entire lives and descend on a city somewhere in the world. That city then becomes our own university campus. And what happens there is just so beautiful. On their own initiative, the tribe members organize mind blowing talks and workshops. They set up pop up schools for the kids. They form new alliances in business and conscious entrepreneurship. Celebrity team teachers come down to create guest lectures. Everywhere you look you see incredible collaborations, transformations, inspiring visions of what education could look like. And the best part is it's transgenerational. From 6 year olds to grandparents, everyone is learning together. Pop up schools, pop up classes for teenagers, all emerge created by our tribe. If you think about it, what we're creating here as a tribe is a future model for a conscious community. The kind that we'd want to be living in decades down the future. Except we're doing it now. And that's how amazing this tribe effect is. And we think we know why. It's because personal growth is most powerful when it's not just personal. It's most powerful when we come together as a tribe to grow together. We exponentially grow, support and inspire each other. And in this collective environment, we become a force for positive global change. So a big question at mindvalley now is what would happen if we gave our tribe an even greater platform to co create and give back? What would happen if we broke down all the walls between our team, our teachers, our tribe? Could we then elevate 100 million lives a billion? Humanity is facing a crisis. The brilliant mind Tom Chee of Google X was once in our office and he told this to us. He said human conscious evolution is not keeping up with a pace of technological exponential growth. And if we can't raise human consciousness to keep ever increasing power of technology, we're done for as a species. He said, I cannot emphasize this enough. We're done for. This is what drives us. The continuous question of how can we come together to help elevate the consciousness of humanity. And so we keep innovating and testing and refining these tribe models in a massive global experiment on innovation in personal growth, while emphasizing that at its core we become our best selves when we are in this together.
