Short excerpt from a YouTube conversation (Vishen Lakhiani interviewing/hosting Bo Eason) about how to become the best: first identify the single role or skill you want to excel at, then seek out and learn from the very best in that position, and remove people and distractions that are not excellent so you can progress.

How do we identify? What is it that we want to be the best at? Like, if I look at my life, I do many different things, but I don't know if I want to be the best speaker or the best author or the best personal growth idea distributor.
Yeah, you have to seek out the very best at the position that you're looking to play. Now, whether that's Al Pacino or whether that's the best safety or whether that's, you know, the fastest man in the world. There was one point in my life where, where I wanted to be the fastest guy in the NFL. But there was three guys who could beat me, right? And I didn't want them to beat me. And so based on my experience, I said, who's going to help me with this? This is a problem for me. Who's going to help me with being to beat these other three guys? And there's only one choice. You have to go to the best. And this is the thing, Vishen is people always want to go to mediocre or second place people or third place or 127th place to get help, to get coached by them. Don't do that. You gotta surround yourself with the best. People who see greatness in you and people who can get you there. And usually those people are already there. So surround yourself with the best and then just do this. Think about your life like this. Eliminate all in your life that is not excellent. Just eliminate it all. Just eliminate what is not necessary. And you'll get rid of all distractions, all people that are naysayers. And you only want the best. So you just carve away at everything that is not the best. You're going to be there. You're going to be there and I can't wait to see you there. Sam.
