What's Happening This Year At Mindvalley University 2018

Vishen Lakhiani describes Mindvalley University, a month-long educational experiment where hundreds relocate to one city to learn and build connections. The first edition in Barcelona had 300 attendees and sparked lasting professional bonds. MindvalleyU 2018 moves to Tallinn, Estonia with 100+ workshops, a kids curriculum, and costs around $50 per day.

So one year ago, I decided to try an experiment. And I did this to fill my own need. I wanted to figure out what would happen if I could move to a city for one month every year and commit to this for the rest of my life and take my family, my kids with me. But pretty soon my wife and I realized that there's going to be a problem there if we were to do that. We're going to get bored. We're such community people. We love having our friends, our kids love having fellow kids they can play with. And so we developed the idea. We asked ourselves, what if we could get hundreds of our favorite people in the world to move to a city with us? I put up a post on Facebook and 2000 people replied and said yes, they were interested. But you know what's even weirder? 300 people actually showed up. We picked Barcelona and a community of 300 people moved to Barcelona. And we set up a hub where all of us could come and and worked together in co working spaces. We set up pop up schools for our kids, for our teenagers. And then Mindvalley got some of the world's greatest teachers, people like Wim Hof, like Lisa Nichols, like Neale Donald Walsh, to descend into the city and stay there for extended periods of time and teach the community. And we were not expecting this, but the members of the community became teachers themselves. Entrepreneurs would educate each other's children. The impact on this in terms of friendship, social connections, community education was so massive we called it Mindvalley University. In that span of 30 days in Barcelona, the movement picked up so much pace that educators from around the world descended to Barcelona to see what we were doing. Celebrities, professional athletes, men like Tony Gonzalez came to talk to our tribe. Remarkable educators like Lisa Nichols came to teach our teenagers. And we realized that there was something special going on here. We weren't just creating a new educational model, we were creating a new way of life. You see, after Barcelona, we stayed in touch with many of the people who were there. Remarkable things happened. The friendships lasted for a year. Teenagers who were there paired up with other teens and started companies. We know of at least one marriage that's happening from two entrepreneurs who met there and fell in love. The changes that these people went through were life shifting, but it was their reward for taking a plunge, for saying, look, I know this sounds risky, but I'm gonna actually step away from my regular life and move to a foreign city with a community of other misfits. For 30 days now, this June to July, in Tallinn, Estonia, One of my favorite cities in the world. We are bringing back MindValleyU 2018. It's bigger than ever. And this is where we are taking this experiment. Firstly, it's no longer just a co working spot. We've rented the number one conference center in the entire Baltics. It was the site of the EU Digital Summit. European leaders meet there. And we've rented this entire space for a month and we are transforming it into a makeshift campus. And we're going further. We're bringing in over 100 workshops, talks, masterminds, so that the people who are moving to Tallinn are not just going to go through one of the most brilliant, mind expanding educational experiences of their life, but they get to come together and forge community. And speaking of education, many of the world's most incredible teachers are coming to MindValleyU not just to pop in and teach, but but to be part of their community. They are bringing their children with them. These include people like Shefali Sabari, Ben Greenfield, Nassim Haramin, Jim Kwik, Wim Hof, Marissa Pier, Eric Edmeads. These teachers, yes, are celebrities. But some of the greatest insights you get from mindvalley U are from the fellow people who come there as students. Because this is such a community driven movement that every student who has something valuable to teach becomes a teacher. And so we end up educating and training each other's children. This time at mindvalley U we have developed a full fledged curriculum for the kids who are coming with their parents, for teenagers who are going to be there. And what's really special about this is for the first time you have transgenerational learning. Imagine a school where while you are going for classes with remarkable teachers, your kids are in the same building going for their classes as well and learning things that the modern education system forgets to teach them. They're learning how to be entrepreneurs, they're learning mindfulness, they're learning how to hack their minds for super memory. They're learning how to create beautiful visions for where they want to take their life in the future. Adults and children, all ages, learning together, because for the first time you come together in a city with a community that's there for each other. Yes, the education is great. But the social events, the parties, the cultural tours, the way we bring people together, that's the real magic, that's the real glue that makes this work. If I were to ask anyone what was their greatest memory of college? It's always the friendships and community. That lesson is one of the reasons why we so Reinforce community in Mindvalley U Now, there are a couple of interesting things happening with Tallinn. Not only is Tallinn an incredible, beautiful medieval city that will blow your mind, it is as gorgeous as Prague, but relatively undiscovered. Lonely planet just labeled Tallinn 2018's best value destination for travel. Estonia is perhaps the most digitally advanced nation in the world. For example, in Estonia, they've created a new type of residency in the cloud where where someone can become a resident, called an E resident in the cloud. And it's a futuristic idea that's changing the way we think of nation states. Every single participant in Mindvalleyu in Tallinn is going to be able to apply for E residency. And for the rest of their lives, they will be an E resident of Estonia. The best part is it's flexible. There are some 100 events that we have planned, another 100 that are going to emerge from the tribe. You can come for a few days or a week or the entire month. And you know what's crazy? Education has always been really expensive. But at Mindvalleyu we've been able to get this down to around $50 a day. That's it. If you come for 30 days, $50 a day, the value here is immense. Cause we want to make this as affordable as possible to people so we can truly shake up modern education and introduce a whole new way of living to the world. All the information is below this video.
