Marisa Peer argues that conventional long-form talk therapy is ineffective and often unhelpful for both clients and therapists. She advocates Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT), a brief, empowerment-focused approach that uncovers underlying causes (detective-like inquiry) and removes outdated beliefs (dentist-like extraction). She claims most clients are helped in very few sessions (typically under five, rarely ten), that results are rapid and permanent, and that she trains healthcare professionals worldwide in this method.
Questions this video answers
She says she's never seen a client for more than five sessions and doesn't think she's ever seen one for ten.

I've never been a fan of conventional therapy because I always ask myself, who gains from that? Do you really think it's useful to go every week and talk about your pain? After all, if you are having heart problems, your cardiologist will not say, come in every Friday at form or talk about the pain. Talking about the pain does not make it better. And in fact, new studies show that when you go into long talk therapy, the actual therapist doesn't like it either because they just don't get enough results. People come to me all the time in all kinds of pain, physical pain, emotional pain. And I almost never ask them, how are you feeling today? What does that feel like? That's really therapy speak. But I'm not sure what to do with you. So I just keep asking the same question every week. After all, if your clients knew how they were feeling, they wouldn't be in your chair because they'd know how they were feeling and they might know how to fix it. I'm all about what lies beneath. Rapid transformational therapy is rapid and transformational because it always looks at what lies beneath. You see, clients have what therapists call a presenting problem. Here's my problem. I can't attract money, I can't attract love. I have all these limiting beliefs and they get give them to the therapist and say, fix them. And that simply does not work because it just makes the client needy. I always involve all my clients in their transformation because it makes them feel empowered and liberated and free. And they all say, almost all of them, I've learned more in an hour with you than I learned in 10 years of conventional therapy. That's why I'm now training and teaching doctors, therapists, nurses all across the world my method, and I love my method. Rapid transformational therapy is rather like being a detective and a dentist. First of all, I use detective like skills to very quickly gather information and work out with my client. Never for them, but with them. What is going on? Why do you do that? Why do you feel like, when did that start? What's this really all about? It's never what you think it's all about. And when I've gathered the information using detective like skills, then I switch to being like a dentist and getting rid of all the toxic stuff, all that toxic matter, all those outdated beliefs. And I've never seen a client for more than five sessions. I don't think I've ever seen a client for 10. Because when you have empowering therapy that really, really works, why happy will come in over and over and over again. It's not necessary, it's not useful, and it does not serve the client. And you know what? It doesn't even serve the therapist. Because they get rather tired of not getting the results. The whole world is changing. We want everything fast, and we definitely want fast therapy. Why wouldn't you? It's fast, but the results are permanent. And that's why I love what I do and do what I love. Because every client says to me, you changed my life. I wish I'd found you 10 years ago. Thank God I found you now.
