A personal first-person account (from a guest/emotions expert) describing a life-threatening medical crisis, the role of a sensed greater purpose in survival, and the mind–body connection—how prolonged physical/mental/emotional stress broke down the nervous system, led to living in survival mode, and motivated a healing/purpose-driven journey.

It was clear I was dying. My body was shutting down, but there was no clear answer. I didn't have doctors telling me, oh, you're safe. You can do this. They were telling me I was going to die and to accept it because we can't treat you. I had a feeling in my heart that there was something that I was sent here to do. That greater purpose of turning everything I had gone into into purpose was one of the major motivators for me to keep going. It was also the real introduction to me of the intricate mind body connection because it helped save my life. I had nights where I literally was too afraid to go to sleep. I felt so close to death, I had days I couldn't even utter a word. It's a very scary place to be when you realize the amount of energy it takes to speak. I did not realize what was happening to my nervous system. When you go through a prolonged physical, mental or emotional experience that is stressful, your system starts to break down. The emotional brain starts to take over, and you're living in survival. That becomes the default.
