Hormones, Upper Cross Syndrome & Fat Loss!

A short YouTube transcript (host Josh Trent) recorded in Mammoth, CA encouraging outdoor exercise and better breathing for metabolic benefits. The speakers explain upper-cross posture limiting lung expansion, outline cortisol as the primary stress hormone produced by the adrenals, mention three stages of adrenal fatigue, distinguish eustress (positive exercise stress) from distress, and urge variety in environment and routines to improve health and weight-loss outcomes.

Happy new year, y'. All. I just wanted to say hi and happy January as well. Out here in Mammoth, California, the weather is sweet. The sun is shining. I don't hear any birds chirping. But you know what? There's lots of birds up on the.
Mountain where I just hiked.
I want to talk about oxygen this month. Being up here for the past couple weeks, I actually relocated to Mammoth to get in touch with my caveman side, to get in touch with my mountain man side. And being up here has taught me one thing. We are all limited when it comes to getting in the outdoors and being in nature. Born and raised in San Diego, a lot like most city dwellers, we spend a bunch of our times in concrete jungles. So let's talk about the one fact that's really getting on my nerves lately, and that's people exercising cardiovascular fitness indoors. On days like today, you got to kick yourself. For real. You got to kick yourself if you're inside the gym doing cardio, and it's gorgeous outside. There's many benefits to breathing oxygen. The first one, obviously, is for metabolic enhancement. A lot of people that have upper cross syndrome, and that is where the shoulders are protracted and the head is forward, they don't do proper breathing, and they have a lot of issues with expansion of their lungs. And what happens is there's an expedited amount of carbon dioxide in the system, and the body can't produce as much oxygen compared to carbon dioxide. So what we get is a carbon dioxide poisoning effect. So by clicking on the link down below, you can find out about the articles that I wrote this month. I would love your feedback. I talked about an article for cortisol. Now, a lot of times cortisol in the media has blown up. There's cortisolim and all these things that distract people from what cortisol really is. Cortisol is your primary stress hormone. It's produced by your adrenal glands that sit on top of your kidneys, and it actually produces that hormone through stress. So when you have stress in your life, whether it's work, family, exercise is also a stress. Internal stressors such as food sensitivities and things like that. This can elevate cortisol. Now, being outside and doing exercise, yes, that elevates cortisol. Cortisol is not a bad thing. The only time there's a bad thing is when there's something called steroidal hormonal imbalance. And that's when your cortisol is actually.
Fatigued to the point where it stops producing.
There's three stages of adrenal fatigue, stage one, stage two, and stage three. There is no stage four. I've been studying these hormones for the past year and their effects on weight loss and the body, and I have to say, it's absolutely fascinating. It completely makes sense. Have you been exercising, dieting and doing everything you possibly can but still not seeing any aesthetic change? Have you been mixing up your routines? Have you been trying diet programs and just crashing and burning? It might not necessarily be what you're eating or what you're doing. It might be something internally regulated by the hormones in your body. Insanity is hitting your head against the wall 9,000 times and on 9,001, expecting a different result. Being outdoors here, practicing great posture, eating clean foods is just the start. Challenging yourself for new environments, new people, new places, new things is the same thing as changing up your diet, changing up your workout routine, changing up your fitness friends, or what you do for exercise. Without variety, we perish. And without variety, we don't have any sustenance for our soul.
Okay, look, I also know that on a daily basis I deal with clients and even personally where I'm not motivated to exercise. The way that you feel when you're frustrated about not necessarily just the way you look, but the way you feel, your energy level, your moods, the fact that you want to treat people around you better, you want to contribute to.
The planet in a positive way.
Everything's affected by how much you move. For you, working at your job and running up and down the stairs inside of a building and running from office to office while you duck cubicles and the guy next to you in the printer has too much paper so you have to give him those little tangs again to fix. The printer is not exercise. Exercise is when you're doing something for you. There's two forms of exercise and stress. There's eustress and distress. Eustress, positive form of exercise. You give it to yourself. It could be running, walking, jogging, twisting, lunging, anything you do with movement. And then there's distress. Distress is stress accompanied by the body by negative things coming towards you.
For example, your boss throws a bunch.
Of work on your desk Friday at 3pm and says, Stay late tonight and who cares about your kid's baseball game? That's distress. So there's two forms of stress and you have to get stress out of the body. So the next time you're sitting around and wondering if you should exercise, when you know you really want to think about how awesome you're going to feel when you're done. Tap into that motivation. Tap the source. You got to use the force inside your body, and if you're not feeling it now, you're going to feel it later with interest.
So here's the January and February for you. Moving out of your comfort zone, doing something fun, doing something different that you haven't done before, and getting out there and squeezing life. Grab that thing and let the juice pour down your elbow. Take a bite. It's going to taste really good because it's brand new, and it's something you've been looking forward to for a long time.
Time.
I'll see you next month. Get up, get out, have fun.
Remix. Come on. Clowns and a half, right?
Yeah.
