Short dialogue from a YouTube video (Josh Trent, Feb 5, 2024) about choosing love over fear in intimate relationships. Speakers discuss the difference between choosing a partner from fear of loss versus choosing from genuine love — including loving someone regardless of whether they remain in the relationship — and how that ability enables mutual choice.
I didn't know if you were going to love me beyond our relationship. I had to know that you were going to love me even if it wasn't in service to you.
I had no idea. I didn't have, like, the faculty of how to do that. Like, how do I love you regardless of if you're with me or not?
It feels different when you can truly choose someone. You're not choosing someone out of fear of losing them. When you came back and said, I will be okay without you and I will still love you, that deeply, deeply, like, shifted some for me. Because now I know that you're choosing me from a place of love and that you really want us. And now I can choose you.
I'm so grateful. I'm so grateful that you chose me. Even with all the stuff. Even with all that I brought in. I'm. I'm, like, kind of shaking right now because my nervous system is still learning this. Like, it's still learning how to be in that truth. Like, that's from my heart. I'm going to love you no matter what, like, if you're. If you're with me or not.
