A short YouTube monologue (by Josh Trent) describing Elon Musk's approach to productivity: intense focus on a problem followed by a playful or intellectually stimulating break to 'reboot' before switching tasks. The speaker contrasts the high-pressure reality of managing large organizations with entrepreneurial motivations, emphasizing product creation as an artistic, experiential endeavor and crediting team members for execution.

They were talking about Elon Musk. I was listening to Lex's podcast the other day, and he had an interview with who's the author that just did the book on him. Same guy that did Steve Jobs bio. And he was talking about how Elon Musk does task switching. So he works intense on a problem or an issue, and then he takes a break playing a game or something that is fun for him or a conversation with somebody really brilliant that challenges him, and then that refreshes him, that reboots him, and then he goes into another task. Because when you're managing as many moving parts as he is, that's how you do it. And that's a great example. Now he says when, you know, when people say, gosh, I wish I was you, he goes, no, you don't. You would never want to be me. Because I live a hell of solving a problem and trying to get away from the ones that follow me around. It's like putting out fires every day, all day long. All day long. All fires, fires, fires. And they're big. They're not, you know, they're fires. They burn the building down. Correct. And they affect the lives of. Of tens of thousands of people of. Of your employees. There's so much pressure for one human being. Oh, my God. That's why, you know, there's a. There's a great podcast called mfm My First Million. And the two guys on it have sold their companies to fairly good companies. One to HubSpot and one to Twitch and super cool guys. They're. They're, you know, young and ambitious and everything, and they talk about business in a different frame than I've experience because I'm not an opportunist. I'm an entrepreneur. I like to create value, scale the value, and then find somebody that's better, you know, better at managing that value than I am or. Or that business or has the second vision for that. I love making cool stuff, so I'm a. I'm a product guy. I love making cool products. I like making them beautiful, if possible. You know, I want the. I want every. I want every interface with this to be an experience. No, it's. It's your expression of art. Yeah, exactly. It is. Art needs no justification. So I just do art that is experiential, that hopefully will change, make an impact on you in a positive way. And. And then I want to help fill in the blanks with brilliant people that do stuff, like my partners, you know, Matt and Wade and, and all of the people you talked about Justina and. Yeah. Nuria and Vita and. And all we have and Joey and. I mean, I could go on and on and on. There's not a person in our company that I can't, you know, give a high five to and bow before.
