In this short, Josh Trent and a guest discuss a hermetic view of polarity, arguing that opposite experiences—such as extreme cold versus extreme heat, or profound loneliness versus the desire for connection—are fundamentally the same energetic side of a larger swing. They illustrate the point with a movie anecdote where an icicle on a back causes a villain to scream the truth, showing how the perception of heat or cold can trigger the same response. The conversation expands to a "pendulum" or "swing" metaphor: God intentionally pushes individuals toward the opposite pole of what they consciously desire, forcing them to experience the full range of an emotion or situation. By swinging through the entire polarity—strong, weak, brave, fearful—one eventually lets go of stories and identities, arriving at a state of "nothing," which the speakers equate with the divine "everything." The dialogue emphasizes that recognizing the unity of opposites leads to deeper wisdom and spiritual transcendence.

What I see when I take a step back in people's lives is they ask for here, like 8 units to the right, let's say that's hot, but they're getting 8 units to the left of cold, which is really the same, but they don't recognize it. And they're like, I'm not getting what I want because they don't recognize the cold is on the same polarity as the hot. And they think it's something different. They don't acknowledge that as, oh yeah, God actually is giving me something.
But isn't it also a pendulum theory that you've spoken about before where, whether it's law of polarity or something else in your hermetic understanding, Why would extreme cold be the same as the other side?
Yeah. You know, there's a movie, it was an original old version of Punisher where the movie, where the character, the Punisher, is trying to get a truth out of this villain, right? So he, on the other hand, he had an icicle pop, like ice pop, and he stuck it on his back. And a guy, because he heard a blowtorch, just thought he was getting burned and he starts screaming out the answer. Extreme cold can feel and is exactly the same as extreme hot, right? So, and, Literally, for example, if someone's slightly lonely, they're like, I want connection. When people ask for connection, how many people do we know that ask for connection that actually ends up having, I don't know, the spiritual term would be a dark night of the soul where everything falls apart and they're actually even more lonely. I'll just have you feel extreme loneliness. And now when you feel extreme loneliness, where you were was already connection.
So by experiencing the opposite of what one is vocally desiring or holding onto, in other words, they're holding onto this desire with white fists.
Yes.
The intention of God is to bring the opposite for the wisdom to come through.
The intention of God is to have you experience the full polarity, the full swing so that you get off of it. But if you're constantly only saying, I wanna go forward on the swing, forward on the swing, God keeps pushing you back, but like, no, you get to swing the full swing. You're constantly stuck on a swing. It's like, you know, in the Hermetic Source, talk about like, we're like a child at a playground, 100 different swings. We're meant to swing, you know, strong, weak, brave, fearful. Um, so, and once we do the full swing, we go, oh, I get what the full polarity and perception of these opposite sides are like. Then you get off the swing because it's, it's boring. So just— God wants you to get off the swing because when you get off the swing, all the swings, you no longer have any stories, any identities, and you become nothing. And the opposite of nothing is everything, which is God.
