This Daily Habit DESTROYS Anxiety + Unlocks Your Inner Peace...

Josh Trent (Wellness & Wisdom AMA) presents a 2025 YouTube/podcast monologue arguing that the single most powerful habit to reduce anxiety is scheduling personal self-care alongside business in your calendar. He explains why digital devices both steal attention and can be tools for mastering it; describes practical steps (color-code calendars, start with 10 minutes of self-care, stack environment to reduce friction, set repeating events Mon/W/F or daily) and mindset work to overcome resistance (guilt, forgetfulness, shame). Key metaphors: calendar as a mirror of self-love, the cup (you must fill to pour), and a power plant (energy is generated). The episode closes with a direct call-to-action to pause and add these calendar entries and links to prior AMAs and resources.

This 2025 daily habit literally destroys anxiety. Now, just because it's simple doesn't mean it's easy. But I'm going to give you the easy, practical ways to make this simple in 2025 and beyond, right here, right now on wellness and wisdom. Hey, it's Josh. And a few years ago, actually many years ago, I was deeply struggling with anxiety and depression. And let's be honest, I think we all struggle with anxiety a lot in this life. We have calendars and notifications and people and things and places and all kinds of stuff that is gnawing at our attention. How do we manage? Maybe you're doing cold plunge, maybe you're doing breath work. But it wasn't until I found this one specific thing that we're gonna go deep into today that really changed the landscape of my life. No exaggeration, when I put this one thing into place, it changed the game for me forever. Now, all of us, most of us have a phone, yes, Most of us have a computer, most of us are on digital devices all day long. But here's the thing, those devices are actually a double edged sword. Those devices are both reaping our attention and monetizing it. And also paradoxically, they're a way that we can use this device to save us time so we can actually master our attention game. What exactly happened for me is that I was starting out as an entrepreneur. I had had all these calendar appointments. I, I was doing everything for business. I was putting all my business calls, all my appointments, revenue, et cetera, et cetera. I was putting all my life into my calendar, except for the most important part, my life. I wasn't putting my life, my free time, my self care, my self love habits. I wasn't putting them in my calendar. And this is the one thing that's yet simple. So when you hear this, you might be like, duh, but, but are you actually doing it? The one thing that can absolutely destroy your anxiety and unlock your inner Peace in 2025 is to put both your business and your personal in your calendar. I actually use color codes, so I have red and green for my business and I have light blue for my personal. So I have three colors that are always circulating in my calendar. Now why do I do this? Why is it so important? Color is an unconscious representation of an energy or a mood or a vibe. So first and foremost we'll talk about today, how to practically use a calendar and also the resistance that's going to naturally come up, because it will so that that calendar can Become your mirror of how you're showing up not just for your business, but also your family, if you have a family, your children if you have children, your husband or wife, your boyfriend or girlfriend if you have those or just for yourself. This is how it broke down for me. It was 2017, 2018, and I kept asking the same question to my business coaches all the time. How am I going to do it all? How am I going to do it all? Can you relate? How are you going to do it all? This thought, this question is actually a cover question. The thought is, oh my gosh, am I going to be able to do it all? Hence comes the anxiety. Then the outward projection of that thought that I attach emotion to is, oh my gosh, I feel overwhelmed. How am I going to do it all? But it's actually the wrong question. The question isn't, how am I going to do it all? That's a cover fear anxiety question that actually gives our unconscious an excuse to not show up for the people that we love and the business that we love and the life that we love. If you're looking for a life that you love, check out some of the other AMAs that we've done in 2025 and 2024. That allows you to get very, very clear on creating the life that you love. But back to the point, am I? It wasn't until I finally had a real serious conversation with a business mentor in 2018 where he asked me, I look at your calendar and I don't see any time for you. And I scratched my head. I was like, what do you mean it's all time for me? This is the paradigm that I was operating from. But there was no time for my self love, for my self care. There was no appointment for Josh to meditate, to do breath work, to do sauna, to do cold plunge, to do yoga, to do movement or stretch. It wasn't in there. I literally had become so fixated on pouring my energy into the podcast and into my business that I forgot about the most important part, me or you and I. So this concept that'll transform your life in 2025 and beyond is so simple. But just because it's simple does not mean it's easy. We're going to go over the easy way that you can do this. To actually schedule self love. Schedule self care as a non negotiable practice. It is first and foremost the adage that you cannot pour from an empty cup. So on the screen right now is a cup. If that cup is half Full, then you only have half of yourself to give to others. If that cup is full, then you can pour all kinds of energy into other people because you have a reserve of energy. But here's the thing. You don't have energy. You generate it. You generate the energy. Now, how do you generate energy? Look at a power plant. I learned this from Brenda Burchard at his conference six, seven years ago. And when he talked about this concept on stage, I was blown away. He said, a power plant doesn't have energy. It generates energy. This is a huge point to understand. So let this seep into your unconscious. You don't have energy. You generate it by your sleep, by your food, by your water, by your thoughts, and by your behavior. These are the ways in which we either fill our cup, or if we're hanging around energy vampires, or if we're not being accountable to our calendar for ourself and others, then we can give all kinds of excuses that, oh, this person came along and they sabotaged my life. We can stay a victim now. There's victimhood vibration in all of us, but it only grows if you feed it. So relate it to this in your life. Have you ever been scrolling on social media and you have this perceived constant connectivity, but you really feel empty and gross after you put your phone down? I know, I have. Have you ever looked at your calendar and said, oh, my God, I have so much anxiety. How am I going to do all these things in my calendar? Well, it's because you are becoming the slave to your calendar instead of the master. So I talked about these color codes, right? The green, the red, and the blue for business and in studio, in person, I really hold myself accountable to my calendar when I hold myself accountable, when we hold ourselves accountable to our calendar and when we schedule in physically, digitally, visually schedule in the self, love, the self care in our calendar. It's an appointment that you don't get to miss. You wouldn't miss a revenue meeting if you have a boss. You wouldn't miss a meeting with your boss. You wouldn't miss a meeting that you put in your calendar for someone else. So why are you. And why do we fall into the trap of missing meetings for ourselves? It's because we've been trained that we can always do it later. The diet starts on Monday. Right now, we're a little bit of time into 2025. You've probably already felt the motivation waning. The motivation's probably gone. It's because there is a key difference between motivation and inspiration. Inspiration comes From a clear connection to who you are, what you stand for, how you serve and why you do it. This clear connection we Talked about in AMAs 699 and 701. So go back and watch those. They're on the screen right now. If you're watching this on YouTube or on Spotify, they're actually in your show notes right below. So why do we miss appointments? Why do we miss appointments for ourselves? It's because when we see the appointment, we fall back into the behavioral flexibility that we've done our work to uphold. Well, what is behavioral flexibility? Behavioral flexibility when it comes to your calendar or managing anxiety or really just meeting the demands of life, the person that has the right mental training and the person that is bendable like a reed, but doesn't snap. The person that has done emotional resilience training, emotional intelligence training, and essentially they've just kept the promises to themselves. That is the person with the most behavioral flexibility. And in any given situation, the person that has the most amount of behavioral flexibility will control the situation. Case in point, have you ever been around a really strong speaker and you start osmotically absorbing what they're saying and you start believing it as your own aspect? That's because they put you in a trance, they've put you in a spell that what they're saying and what they're thinking is actually good for you. And by the way, there's really quality times for that to happen. I mean, I absorb people on the podcast all the time, but I have a filter and that filter allows me to get very clear on who I am, what I stand for, how I serve, and why I do it. That is the recipe for how you can create your calendar. So first and foremost, what is the goal that you have for 2025? Is it a physical goal? Is it a relationship goal? Like get really clear, what is the thing that you are becoming in 2025? Then make your calendar color coded or you don't have to. You can just use regular colors, right? You can use one color. I really like color coding the calendar. And there's a screenshot of what a color coded calendar looks like on the screen right now. Habits really revolve around friction. The less friction we can create in our life, the more easy it'll be to have the habit unfold. So what do I mean by this? When you are going to do a workout, you put your clothes out the night before, you put your shoes out the night before. There's a calendar appointment that you get notified to wake you up, you set the alarm to wake you up, the coffee or you know the paraxanthine is already ready for you. You stacked and created an environment that has less friction. You're more likely, way more likely to actually go to the gym, go for a run, or do the movement than that you promised yourself that you want to keep the promise to if you stack the environment in your favor. So how do you start scheduling the self love? This is really important. First, provide a clear, actionable framework for you to set aside. Just start with 10 minutes, then go to 30. Start with 10 minutes and say, what is the best time for me to do this thing? Let's just use a physical goal. Because the physical goal is probably most on people's minds right now in 2025. Is it in the morning? Is it midday? Is it in the evening? Just start there. Look at your calendar, organize your childcare. If you're a mom or dad, organize your personal life and actually plug in time for yourself. Start with 10 minutes because I promise you, once you do 10, you'll probably most likely want to do 20 and 30 and 45 and 60. Start small. This is what is talked about in the book Atomic Habits by James Clear. James Clear says that the more friction that we have, the less likely the habit will be able to be upheld or be able to be completed. Why is this important? When I talk about stacking the environment in your favor, it means that your calendar is actually a mirror of how you're showing up. So use your calendar not as some like check mark that you have to put into your day, but actually a mirror of self love. A calendar is a mirror of self love for you. Whether you want to admit it or not, we're in a digital age. That digital age is either going to control you or you're going to control it. This is a really big piece here. This is a huge takeaway from this AMA, from this podcast. Please make a choice to schedule 10 minutes in your calendar knowing that it can be 30 or 45. And then treat it like a meeting that you can't cancel. Treat it like a meeting you can't cancel. You wouldn't cancel on your child for breakfast. You wouldn't cancel on date night for your husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend. You wouldn't cancel on your boss for a meeting. Right, because that's the job that you're in. That's the profession that you've chosen. So decide what this is going to be. Is it gonna be meditating? Is it gonna be journaling? Is it gonna Be a creative hobby? Is it gonna be something that just nourishes your soul? It could be many, many things. Right? I'll list out a few. Exercise, stretching, journaling, meditation, cold plunge, any kind of contrast therapy, singing, dancing, anything at all that fills you up. Remember the cup that I talked about? If you do not fill your cup, you will mash the gas pedal down and you will try to pour unto others from an empty self. Eventually, this is going to lead to illness. It's going to lead to you burning out, having more anxiety, and then you're really going to build a case unconsciously that you can't do it all. Remember that question that I shared in my life when I met with my business coach? The story that I was running, y', all, is, how am I going to do it all? How am I going to do it all? That was the wrong question. The better question is how? How can I design my life? And what support and scaffolding and structure can I put in to keep me accountable to myself so I can keep promises to myself? So that's the stronger question. That's the more empowering question. That's the better question. How can I design a life that I keep promises to myself? Inside of? This is really big because it's a ritual. Make it a sacred starting and ending place that has gratitude and that has joy and that has love and that has good vibes in it. Ten minutes, we all have. And if you don't have 10 minutes, you need a serious reorganization of your life. Okay? So first and foremost, use your calendar as an external mirror of how much you love yourself on the inside. Next, you get to address the common barriers and really resistance that you're going to meet. As you move forward with this, one thought might pop up. I don't have time. Let's be honest. It's 10 minutes. Everybody's got 10 minutes. The next one is I feel guilty for taking time for myself. Well, that guilt is actually just another cover emotion, another cover story to keep you stuck. So thank the guilt for being there. Let it know that it doesn't have a place at the table and move forward higher up the Hawkins ladder and actually keep yourself accountable to your calendar, or I forget is another one I forgot to do it. Well, this is the beauty and the simplicity of this number one hack. It's actually not even a hack. It's a habit. This number one habit that will literally destroy anxiety for you if you do it. And this is the key. If you do it, you get to set aside 10 minutes for yourself. You get to keep yourself accountable to your calendar. I like color coding. You don't have to put it in your calendar and it's a mirror of your life. Dan Martell was on the podcast and he talked about this one thing he said to me that just rocked my world. That was actually an affirmation of what I had already known from 2018. He said, show me your calendar and I'll show you your life. Show me your calendar and I'll show you your life. I mean, this is why small changes compound over time, right? When you invest a dollar a day into something, in 30, 40 years, you could have hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars. Think about that. A dollar a day. A dollar a day. How easy it is for us to spend a dollar on something that isn't healthy? How easy is it for us to not have a calendar appointment remind us of the promise we made to ourself. Use your calendar and your life will be used by you instead of your life being used by someone else. I really want to tell you this is huge. Use your calendar because your calendar is a representation of how you manage your time, how you spend your time. It's really big because I want you to imagine this. Close your eyes for a moment. If you're in the car, don't close your eyes. Close your eyes. Paint a vivid picture of what life feels like after you have implemented this habit. Paint a picture of what it feels like. Take a couple deep breaths. Feel how there's no place for anxiety in this environment. Feel how there's no place where confidence can't live, where a sense of control, a sense of being proud of yourself, a sense of healthy pride can live in it. It's one simple thing. But it doesn't mean it's easy. How do we make simple easy? We make simple easy by acknowledging the story that's coming up that's making it more complicated. Thank the story. Acknowledge the story for what it is. It's probably baked in from years or even decades of stories you've been telling yourself. And acknowledge it for just the story that it is. Because, my friend, it is just a story. It is just a story. Now, will resistance come up? Of course. Of course resistance comes up. But the call to action here isn't to be motivated to meet the challenge or be motivated. It's actually to do the deeper inner work that I've already mentioned on this AMA, this podcast, and on previous AMA's and podcasts. They're on the screen again right now. Sometimes we have to hear a message like 50 times, to actually let it sink in. And then on the 51st time, we hear a message like, you use your calendar and you can actually use your life instead of your life using you when we hear it for the 51st time. And my prayer, my intention is that you're hearing it right now. Maybe you've already heard this a thousand times, and it's this thousand and one time that you actually say to yourself, ah, I'm going to let the war stop. I'm going to let go of the war of should I do it? Should I not do it? Should I use a calendar? Should I not? It's this one habit that changed my life. It literally changed my life. And it'll change yours. Because wherever you go, there you are. And when you use a calendar and you plug in all your personal, your business, your leisure, your vacations in your calendar, your calendar is going to reflect back whether or not you are accountable to it. Now, here's one piece of resistance that I can't let you go without sharing. When you miss a calendar appointment, because it's inevitable, right? Things happen. You get to actually just click it, drag it, and move it over. It's that simple. Your life is a game. We talked about mastering the reality game, the new reality game in 2025 on our previous last week's AMA. It is that simple that you can actually notice when you miss an appointment of self love for yourself. And you can click it and you can drag it and you can do it the next day. The key point here is to never allow the dragon of shame to suck you down to the bottom of the ocean. Pitfalls, challenges, missed appointments will come. Anytime you miss one, that's just something that you give kudos to yourself with. But anytime you miss two or more, that's a new habit of excuses formulating itself in real time to give your subconscious an excuse that you're not worthy of this love. And I'm here to tell you that you're worthy of this love. This is a very, very potent and powerful practice. I would say out of all the things out there, this is the strongest framework to transform your life, hands down. You can go to Dispenza, you can go to Tony Robbins, you could have been listening to the Wellness and Wisdom podcast for seven years or 10 years at this point in 2025. And if you just do this one thing, it is my sole promise to you that when you control your calendar and you manage your calendar and you do your very best, not try but when you do your very best to keep yourself accountable to your calendar, you're going to get to see the unfolding of who you actually are, of all the ways in which you tell yourself stories that you're not good enough, that you're not lovable enough to actually do the workout or meditate or whatever it is. Put it in your calendar and your life will be a representation of that. So here's the call to action right now. I want you to pause this. I want you to pause this and I want you to go to your calendar. You can use your phone calendar. I like using the ical calendar and I just feed in all the Gmail calendars, color code, your calendars, personal business, leisure, self care, however you want to do it. I want you to stop this right now and put time for yourself in your calendar. Here's how you're going to do it. Monday through Friday or Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Start with five or three, because that's the majority of your week. Start with five or three. Pause this right now and put those repeating tasks in your calendar. Start with 10 minutes for the very thing that you've gotten clear on, go ahead and do that right now. Okay? You have taken the first powerful step in creating the new reality game. Your calendar is gonna control you. So you may as well surrender to the fact that you can and you will control your calendar. How amazing does it feel already, by the way, to know that by you plugging in these three or five pieces and in your calendar for 10 minutes apiece, how much that is going to inspire you, not motivate you? Because motivation is short term, how much that's going to inspire you to keep going? When you keep going and you keep in alignment with your calendar and you start keeping the promises to yourself, you're unstoppable. You are going to be absolutely unstoppable. Your calendar reflects your priorities. If you're not scheduling time for you, who will? Who's going to schedule a time for you if you don't do it? So remember this small act of putting yourself first, it's not just self care, it's self respect, it's self love. We talked about even deeper aspects of how to build the courage to love yourself on the screen right now in this video. It's linked right here. A previous AMA. It is this ultimate call to action because 2025 is your year. It's your year to create a new reality game and to master that game, starting with your calendar.
