Short transcript excerpt of a YouTube video (uploaded by Josh Trent) in which Dan Martell and another speaker discuss the link between self-worth and financial success. Key claims: self-worth shapes the willingness to develop skills and seek higher value work; entrepreneurship functions as a powerful personal-development program; hire people to buy back your time so you can focus on growth and personal evolution.
You'll never get a penny more than you think you deserve. Your self worth is a byproduct of your identity. If you don't think you're worth it, you won't go on the journey to develop. If you don't think you inherently have more to give, you won't decide to go work on the skills that are going to make you more valuable to the marketplace. I think entrepreneurship is the ultimate personal development program. It is the most beautiful thing. You want to grow your business? Go look in the fricking mirror, man.
It is the most powerful mirror I think we could ever experience intra or entrepreneur. Because in order for us to be of service at a high level, we have look at the ways that we're not actually serving us.
Yeah.
Because we can't give anybody else anything from an empty cup.
Most people make the mistake of hiring people for capacity. I'm like, no, hire people to buy back your time, the calendar and then fill your time with things that evolve you. And through that the business will actually grow. The bigger the business gets, the more time I have to become better to be ready for the next thing.
