A short YouTube conversation led by Wendie Trubow, MD, MBA, IFMCP about adverse childhood experiences (trauma) and their possible connection to later-life medically unexplained symptoms. The speakers suggest that when unexplained medical issues arise in adulthood, it is reasonable to explore whether past trauma may be contributory and to pursue a holistic evaluation.
If you have a history of adverse childhood events and trauma and if later in life you start.
To experience medically unexplained.
Thank you. Medically unexplained issues that even without your quiz, it's an easy leap to say, okay, I think it's worth exploring whether this is relating back to my previous trauma.
Absolutely. I mean, it, you know, it, it isn't always going to be that way, obviously, but it is. Absolutely. For a complete evaluation, a complete workup, it should be investig. Just, you know, the way we. And if I've got somebody with upper abdominal pain, for example, I want to make sure they don't have pancreatitis or a gallstone or an ulcer. But I'm also going to tell them, you know, even before I've ruled out those things, that it could be stress and that that's on the list. And it's, you know, in order to be holistic about this, we want to include all the possibilities and investigate for all of them or our evaluation is not complete.
