Independent musicians have to do everything a major label does, just alone. You need to be better at music, better at business, and willing to handle marketing, distribution, and accounting yourself. That's why so few indie artists make it.

If we're going to talk about pillars, it has to start with what are they willing to do outside of making music, right? And that's usually where the conversation stops. For real. You know, always, it's funny how like when you indie, people look at like being indie as amateurish. Versus majors, like, oh, that's a little indie shit. But it's like, Do you know how much more I have to do than a nigga who signed to a major to be indie? I have to be more skilled than every nigga you listen to. Because you heard me and him. And he got the major behind him. He didn't have to do half of what I had to do. Like, you really have to be super skilled. And I think that's why we're not seeing a lot of— we're not seeing a huge insurgence of a lot of successful indie artists because artists lack that skill and that work ethic to do that shit.
