Sorry, I just came back from a run, but I'm here to tell you that you should start posting on LinkedIn today. You can build a following so easily and the upside is tremendous. Hi, I'm Yoyo Zhang. I'm a 19-year-old student founder and I built my LinkedIn from 0 to 10,000 followers in 6 months. I'm here to show you that anyone can do it. If I can do it, you can do it. I mean, look at me. I'm a college student. I have no professional expertise of any kind. I have not even any full-time work experience other than some internships, and yet I was able to build a following just from sharing my personal stories. By spending just 30 minutes a day on drafting, I was able to get in touch with really important people. I got internship offers and I even got sponsorship deals. I started posting by talking about my experience building startups in college, which is exactly what I'm trying to share here in video form, but I think it's even easier on LinkedIn because those posts tend to be really short. That's one beginner mistake I see a lot of people make is that they draft really long articles, but on LinkedIn you want to keep it short and sweet, which is good because it's low effort. You don't even need a startup or anything like that to start posting. You can talk about anything, anything regarding your personal experience, your family, your school, If you're immigrant, you can talk about your cultures. Literally anything goes. Sometimes when I'm running out of ideas, I'll literally scroll through my photo album and see if any photos can give me some inspo. For me, it doesn't take a lot of planning because it's all about authenticity. It's all about your personal voice. So anything that comes from your personal story, anything that you care about can be turned into a post. I know a lot of people are embarrassed or scared to get started because LinkedIn tends to be this very professional place, but I really encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity that a lot of people don't realize because that's how you can stand out. For me, it's It's been a great journey so far, but obviously there's a long way to go, and I'll be sharing every step of the way here.
