I went viral for rejecting Palantir's interview offer. Let's talk about it. People were very mad because they were asking me, why did you apply in the first place? Now, I am so, so sorry for my deeply unethical behavior of mass applying. I am coming clean today. I've been using this tool that applies 100 jobs for me every single week based on my resume, and I don't reply to most of the first-round offers. I don't know if this is news in the Big 26, but none of the companies are actually reading your resume. They're all using AI to send you automated first-round interviews if you pass their screening. So I genuinely don't think Palantir has lost anything from my application. Let's just say, as a wild proposition, what if I actually applied just to troll them? Whoa, I know that's crazy, but what if it were true? Would you actually be on Palantir's side? Like, let's be for real. Okay, second question was, why did you post this on the internet? Obviously, I did it for attention. Duh. Why would I post anything on LinkedIn? This is not my first day on LinkedIn. This was not an accident. I have been posting and trolling for a while. Disclaimer, I do actually post valuable content, but this type of thing's just get so much more engagement. You gotta balance both, okay? This is the art of LinkedIn. LinkedIn is my canvas. I don't see that far in advance. I actually applied to Palantir with the intention of making this post, but I was very inspired when I saw this email because I thought it would be super funny to do a rejection from the applicant's point of view because you always just see it from the other side, and it's time for us to flip the script. Now lastly, I want to thank a particularly kind gentleman who sent me a DM saying that I would never get a corporate job because of this. Thank you so much for your generous unsolicited advice, but did you really think that this was my first day on LinkedIn? Girl, I've been doing this for almost a year, and I did not build my 13K following by commenting congratulations on every post, okay? I know the companies that hate it when any of their employees show any personality on the internet. Trust me, most of my friends work in banking. But that's a trade-off I'm willing to make. By the end of this year, I'm about to make more on LinkedIn than I ever have from any big tech internship. If you're planning to go into a highly regulated industry, you should not be doing anything that I'm doing.
But if you're interested in entrepreneurship, if you want to do a startup, That's how you can actually build a valuable personal brand.
And disclaimer, I don't just post rage-baiting content, okay? I actually do have valuable content for early career professionals on my LinkedIn and every single platform, but you have to understand the algorithm and be willing to put yourself out there and make people laugh or curse at you or whatever. So if that's you, I'm happy to give you advice and you should totally follow me.
