Now that the World Cup is over, here are some of the craziest records broken this year, but it gets increasingly more niche. This World Cup had the most goals scored ever with 307 goals, beating the previous record of 172 from the last World Cup. This was also the most attended World Cup ever with 6.5 million live attendees. The previous record was 3.6 million in 1994, which was also hosted by the US. This time we also had the first ever halftime show in a World Cup final. Messi became the oldest player to ever score a hat-trick in the World Cup. Ronaldo became the first player ever to score in 6 different World Cups. Mbappé became the all-time leading scorer in World Cup history, beating Messi's record from just a day before. Spain now holds the record for the fewest number of goals conceded by a winning team. They've only ever conceded 1 goal in 8 matches. Cape Verde became the smallest nation to reach a knockout stage. Curaçao became the smallest nation ever to qualify for a World Cup. This was the first time we had the number 1 and number 2 teams play each other in the World Cup final ever since the ranking system was introduced in 1992. Curaçao coach Dick Avocat became the oldest coach in World Cup history. Emiliano Martínez made the most saves in a World Cup final with 11 saves for Argentina, beating the previous record of 8 saves in 1994. This was the first time a team has reached a World Cup final without winning a singular match during regular time. And last but not least, we saw the first ever red card for covering someone's mouth while talking on the field. Sorry, not sorry, Paraguay. Did I miss anything?
