Short YouTube video (monologue) by Aaron Whybrow (Diagnostics and Finance) about electronic driver’s licences in New South Wales. Aaron explains that while the Services NSW app electronic licence is convenient for everyday ID checks (entry to venues, police checks, QR codes), many lenders will not accept an electronic-only driver’s licence for home loan applications. He advises that borrowers renewing licences or seeking lending should retain or obtain alternative ID (passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate, Medicare card) to meet lender requirements.
Electronic Driver's Licenses hey, it's Aaron from Diagnostics and Finance and I just want to talk about this nice hot topic that's come up in New South Wales, especially where you can have your driver's license on the Services New South Wales app on your phone. And that's really cool if you want to log into a club or a pub, use your QR codes, show it to the police if you're pulled over for any check in required. But it doesn't necessarily mean that we can use your driver's license for a home loan application. Recently I had a client that had electronic driver's license only and opted only to have the electronic copy and didn't have a physical copy for a recent renewal that he went after. What I wanted to suggest to people is that if you are still going to currently go after any lending and you're coming up to renewal of your driver's license right now, most lenders don't have a way around this electronic driver's license except if we provide other forms of identification like a passport plus something else, a birth certificate, marriage certificates, Medicare cards or whatever the specific lending requirements are. So just a little tip around electronic driver's license.
