Nathan S & Aaron

Aaron Whybrow and Nathan Spiteri talk about how apps are changing work and daily life. They cover productivity tools, workflow improvements, and app development projects designed to help customers.
Hey, it's Aaron from diagnostics and finance here. I'm here with Nathan Spiteri from Appculture. Apps are part of our lives these days. I use them for banking, Facebook and a bit of gaming. So what excites you about apps? What can we do with these?
Look, the thing that really excites me about apps is, look, it's always changing. It's relatively a new product, especially in Australia. Internationally, it's grown significantly in the last, say, five years. Apps can help you do a number of things, from running your business to having fun, keeping the kids occupied in the car on those long trips, or.
Even I love the kids getting occupied. That's it. Sometimes you don't want them on their iPads anyway, or their phones, but sometimes it's really good for them to interact with some educational material or some fun.
Definitely.
So with business, since you do business, apps and things as well, what can we do? What can we achieve with a business app? Is it productivity?
Yeah, definitely. Look, you can create many things with apps these days around productivity, process flows. You can also do, you know, revenue calculations, you know, mortgage calculators for instance, would be fantastic for your clients. Aaron in mortgage broking, look, you can also do, you know, probability, like you can say, see if you can win the lotto or not. But look, I don't condone that at all in any way.
Someone that wins the lotto doesn't need my help.
Exactly, exactly. You can share the winnings with me once I build the app for you. But look, apps can do a number of things. But look, they've gone a long way from the games and from the little Tetris games you used to play as a kid, they've gone more to more analytical games in the sense that you can play multiple players, you can have play around the world with anyone, you can Skype anyone from the app these days. So really, it's endless what you can do with apps these days.
So just a last question on apps is what is an exciting project you've got involved in recently that's been either challenging or easy or just rewarding for the customer?
Yeah, I've got a client at the moment. Look, we're looking at doing an app that increases productivity and workflow within his business. So looking at all the structures of his business, how he does workflows, how his guys go on site and do the job, et cetera. So step by step process, so the app's there to give a step by step process, a guideline on how they should do their job as well as how to video safety guidelines and safety videos.
That's awesome. So a little bit of systemization in the business as well, and also back communication back to the office, correct?
Yeah. So he's finding that the reporting is really good in the sense that his guys are learning and developing and learning how to do things quicker and also to follow the process a bit more readily as well as do things more.
Safer, and it helps him expand. So big win, win, win situation sitting there.
Yeah, definitely. Look, he's a progressive fella and the apps definitely helped his business. I'd say at least fourfold at the moment. And we're looking to increase on that as time goes on as well.
And we're always on our smartphones and our tablets and our devices, so sometimes it's quite common for me to find someone trying to send me bank statements via the app versus what I need these days. No offense to apps there, but yeah. So apps are here to stay. Nathan's an expert in this area. Productivity is only one aspect of app development. There's a whole range of other things there. If you've got an idea around an app or you want to explore where that might be able to take you, Nathan's your man. How do we get in contact with you?
Yeah, look, we're pretty easy to get a hold of Nathan Spatturi from AppCulture. It's appculture.com or infoupculture.com or you can find us on Facebook as well under Appculture. Cool.
And it's Aaron from Diagnostics and Finance. You'll find this on our social media. We'll tag each other in the post, put our contact details. If you need to reach out about an app, finance, or how we can both work together to help your business get more productivity, please do reach out. All right, see you guys.
See you guys. Have a good day.
