MrBeast’s first product failed. Here’s why

MrBeast's first chocolate bar flopped because it was too thin and tasted bland. He listened to feedback, made it thicker, and repositioned it around ethical cacao sourcing. The revamped product hit $375 million in revenue, proving that celebrity reach alone doesn't sell products.

It's funny because I actually have the chocolate bars here in front of me. Me too. So we originally launched this chocolate bar focused on like a better-for-you chocolate bar with like 4 ingredients only. Like it was a very thin bar, so it would break very easily. And people hated the experience because the brand was completely shattered and it just didn't taste any good. So yeah, MrBeast did what a lot of celebrities never do is he listened actually to his audience. And they said like, we want to have a better tasting chocolate bar. We want break lines, a thicker formula. And that actually pivoted towards this. I've had this one. Oh yeah, this one?
Yeah.
Okay. Yeah. What about your opinion?
I, I like it, but I've, I don't have a baseline because I did not try the previous one. But I think your post did mention something about the marketing as well. So the difference between what's written on the, on the 2 chocolates.
It's quite hard if you have different flavors to see what flavor it is exactly. So in the next version, they actually highlight even better what type of flavor it is. But it just showcased that even though he has 400 million subscribers, that doesn't mean that like he can automatically create a good product. He also had to pivot and pivot and pivot again to find the product market fit to now where they have it and then they can actually scale. So they did like $375 million in revenue last year, just because they were able to listen to what the audience actually want and change the value proposition because they went from a better for you with like 4 ingredients, you actually see it here. Now actually a new value proposition that's focused on ethical cacao sourcing and fighting child labor. So yeah, though he had 400 million subscribers, it doesn't mean that he immediately finds product-market fit. Similar to every entrepreneur, he needs to find that on its own and not just based on his follower account.
