Adam Markel teaches a one-minute breathing technique: inhale deeply through your nose, hold, sip a little more air, hold again, then exhale as slowly as possible. Do it once before stressful moments like sending an email or when you feel tightness.

If you apply breathing techniques to that for one minute, you will completely take the stress that you're experiencing and reframe it. I'll give you an example. Everybody take a deep breath in. Breathe in through your nose to the top. Almost to the very, very, very, very top. There you go. Now hold it. Now, I want you to just sip a little bit more air through your nose. Sip a little more. Hold it. Now, I want through your nose. Let it out. Release it as slowly as you can. Just let it go. Let that breath go. That simple. Do that once. Do that once before you hit that email. Do that once before you make that statement or you react to somebody when you're feeling your impatience showing up or some other thing that's happening. The tightness. Do it again.
