NAACP Support

Adam Markel (former lawyer) delivers a short, direct endorsement of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, urging viewers to support the organization financially or by amplifying its mission. He frames access to legal representation as central to justice (voting rights, criminal justice, civil discrimination) and calls for immediate, concrete action rather than symbolic gestures.

Hey, everybody, it's Adam. I just want to shout out to an organization that's really doing something right now and has been doing something really right for a very, very long time, and that is the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. You may or may not be aware of it, but I was a lawyer. I was a lawyer for 18 years, and I got to see firsthand how sometimes justice has a lot to do with who can afford it. And people that don't have access to lawyers and legal teams to be able to fight for their rights often go without those rights, whether it's voting rights or it's how they're treated in the criminal justice system, or in many ways, how they're treated civilly, how they're discriminated against in settings that are not criminal. And in civil court, they are at a disadvantage when or never make it to court because they don't have the money to fight the corporations and other organizations that are systematically taking their rights away from them. So the NAACP Legal Defense Fund is an organization that is doing good and has been doing good for the disenfranchised, the marginalized, the discriminated against for many, many years. And I'm putting my support behind that organization and calling out to all of you to do the same, whether it's to make a small donation or a large donation, or to do something like what I'm doing right now, which is also to let other people know that your support is behind them and to encourage other people to do the same. Whatever is going to make sense for you, whatever feels appropriate in the moment, I hope that you will consider helping them, supporting them, and speaking, using your voice to share what they're about and their message and their mission, because it's how we will see change coming even faster. And so, again, put your support behind them. I'm going to do the same. And I hope that we can all see some really profound and meaningful changes happen right away. This is not another time for the sort of the same old Kumbaya moments and followed by inaction or a lack of actually seeing things change. Now is the time to actually put a stake in the ground and make change happen. And any organization that can help to do that at grassroots level, like the naacp, is an organization that must be supported now.
