Involving Families in the Investment Journey

In this informal live‑stream, MAS host Adrienne Barker interviews Chastity, the CEO of KBDB Consults, about her journey into trading and how she teaches investing to beginners, especially those who struggle with math. Chastity explains that she got into trading during the COVID‑19 pandemic as a way to earn money from home, and after early success she began teaching others. She describes her teaching philosophy: breaking concepts down to everyday analogies, using a 12‑year‑old level, and tailoring lessons to each learner’s age and background. Chastity prefers one‑on‑one sessions but also offers group workshops, and she screens potential clients with a low‑cost $7 discovery call to assess lifestyle, capital, and goals before recommending a strategy (day trading, swing trading, options, or avoiding penny stocks). She shares practical advice on Bitcoin – dollar‑cost averaging, the energy demands of mining, and suggests starting with small purchases rather than mining equipment. Throughout the conversation, Chastity emphasizes involving family members, using familiar consumer experiences (e.g., grocery stores) to identify tradable companies, and encourages learning together with spouses or children. Adrienne expresses enthusiasm, decides to become a client, and discusses potential future collaboration.
Chapters
Hi everyone. Okay, I think this is 1, 2, 3, our 4th today, and I'm live with Chastity. Chastity, do I know you?
No, we're, we're just meeting for the first time.
That's right, you don't know me, and you're brave, bold, and beautiful. I mean, who does that? Who says yes to a live without even knowing the host? Did you Google me?
I did not.
Oh, so you didn't do any prep either? So neither of us did any prep.
Nope.
You can't even have a colonoscopy. You have to prep for that.
All right.
I want to hear who are you and what's behind you. I love it. Okay. So I want to hear, tell, tell us, share, share your story.
Chastity, I found you in the speakers group and I was just like, let me try it out. I am not a pro at being in front of the camera. So everybody bear with me. This is me breaking those limits to be able to talk and get in front of other people. And this is like my second one. So I'm working on it. Um, I'm the CEO and I run KBDB Consults, and I teach people one-on-one, um, how to trade the stock market.
Whoa, okay, I don't even have questions because I don't understand the stock market. And I think I have— so actually, I do have a question for you. So this— okay, so first of all, let me just say you look beautiful. I love your voice. You, you could do a voiceover here. We have a wonderful voice. Chastity, I'm gonna admit this live. I think, I, I think I have a math, um, what do you call, like a development issue with math. I'm not good with math. No, it's really— so my father would try here and there to say, okay, here's the stock market, I want you to learn it, but it doesn't absorb with me. So how do you, how do you work with someone like myself that doesn't have that side of the brain working correctly?
I break things down and make it relate to something that you're familiar with, whether you like gardening, whether you like shopping, whatever it is you like, I correlate that to that and I put it on a 12-year-old level. So I figure if my daughter can understand it, an adult will not understand it. And that's how simple I make it. My youngest student has been 12, my oldest has been 65. So you put yourself in that bracket of understanding. There's no limitations, not too soon and not too late. As long as you can read, I can help you.
Oh my gosh, and what makes you love the stock market so much, and when did you start?
Oh, I think we cut out for just a second. What is that?
When did you love the stock market? Like, like, first of all, are you a numbers person? Do you like math too? And then when did it start with you?
I am a numbers person. I started out totally not here. This became about— in doing COVID, um, I was looking for something else, and I wanted to invest in myself, make some more money And I was— the question to myself was, what can I do to make money where I don't need a product, I don't need clients, and I could do it from home? And this, this stuck out to me. I can trade even though I teach. I can trade from, from anywhere doing anything and make money pretty much out of thin air. I don't need people. So that was, that was the, the, the light bulb for me. So I was just— I was already working 9 to 5. That was still going good, but I was just like, I'm going to take this extra stimulus money and put it to work. And that's what I did. I invested in learning some courses, meeting some people. I love the numbers game, and I just put my head down and really learned it. And once I started making money, I decided, well, let me tell some more people. I told my best friend, I taught her a little bit, and she was out the gate to $2,000. I was like, okay, I think I might know how to do this pretty good. So that's what led me here. It was just trying to learn something new that I saw on social media.
And so do you teach groups or one-on-one? What does that look like? It's groups.
I prefer, and I think people learn better one-on-one. Groups are by choice. If I do a group session, it's over a larger topic where people don't have pressure. But I think people learn better one-on-one. And that's how I learned from my main mentor, which is one-on-one. It allows people to be more comfortable. It allows them to say, I don't know, I don't get it, and we can stay on certain topics without feeling rushed.
Wow. I'm interested in this because I'm not sure if I would get it, so I want the challenge to learn. Where are you located?
I'm located in Texas, a little city outside of Houston called Conroe.
Oh, nice. Nice. I drove through Texas. It was amazing. All the little towns, the ghost towns. Wow. Okay, so let's share your website, how people work with you, kind of the same, like the typical things. But we want to know that it's really important. And so if someone has my brain, we're not really great with math and have a hard time understanding the stock market, Chastity is for you. So tell us, Chastity.
I have a link. I can drop it in the group or after this call. It's a little hard to read, but it's kbdbconsults.com. But you can book a discovery call. My discovery calls are $7 for for the cost of a cup of coffee, you can find out if this is right for you. I go through and talk to you. I don't let anybody buy my course or speak with me and let me trade with them until I know that your lifestyle is really set up for this. If you work a 9 to 5 and you're on, you know, you can't use your phone or don't have internet, this might not be for you immediately for day trading, but there's something else you could do called swing trading. So I evaluate your lifestyle and see which strategy is going to work best for you. And then even if it's not, you're just like, okay, you, you haven't lost anything, but you didn't You know, you didn't invest $500 to $1,000 or something that's not going to work for you. I like to get to know you. Let's know your lifestyle. Let's know what your goals are. If your goal is, hey, I need an extra $100 a month or a day, this is something we can do and we can scale out and make it, you know, individualized.
Have you gotten in the Bitcoin mining craze?
Yeah, I have people inside of my group that are way more advanced than me. So they let me know. I usually dollar cost average, so I buy $1 worth of Bitcoin each day, let that accumulate. I'm not a miner yet, but I do have a friend that sells miners. So that's my next investment, is to set up a solar system or generator where I can mine Bitcoin and it not affect my utility bill.
I don't even know how to— let me explain.
When you mine Bitcoin, it takes a lot of electricity. So instead of me running it in my home, running up my utility bill, I can use it on a generator or a solar power source where the sun will supply the energy and it won't cost me more money.
Okay. All right. So if I go into ChatGPT and I say, explain Bitcoin. No, do I call it— what would I say? Explain mining to me like I'm a 3-year-old. I don't even know. Like, why would it take energy?
Okay.
For my computer?
Yeah. So a Bitcoin mining machine, it's a computer set up with other machines and the computer mines it for you. but it takes a lot of energy to do that. So you're plugging a computer into a power source and those miners are running. So there's like 3 or 4 miners that run, um, like little machines. So, you know, those, the, the fan on your computer. So on your—
okay, that processors. Yeah. But then what am I mining? What would I even be?
So when you do Bitcoin mining, um, the computer is completing calculated equations and they're mining the coin for you. That's pretty extreme. I'm not the expert on it, so I don't— I won't go into too much detail. Stock market is my, my thing. But mining, I would say if you just want to get into Bitcoin, just start, you know, buying a little bit at a time. You can buy it in your Cash App, you can go on to different, um, different sites, Coinbase, and you can mine it there and then store it in your wallet. So I would say, you know, just start there. Don't go jumping into mining just starting now, just accumulating some Bitcoin. All right.
So here's the big question for Chastity that everyone wants to know. Ready?
Yes.
You wake up in the morning. What do you do first?
First thing I do—
check the stock market?
Yes.
Naturally. You brush your teeth first. You try to brush your teeth. What comes first, stock market or brushing your teeth?
I'll be honest. The first thing I do is go wake my daughter up for school. So she has about an hour to get ready for school before she gets on the bus. So my first thing, my alarm goes off, I go wake her up. I lay back down for another hour. I take her to the bus and then I lay back for another hour and then the market opens. So I'm kind of have a split sleep method. Once the stock market opens, I have a private group for my beginner students. So they're kind of in a nesting state. And while— so I'm in there talking to them, looking at the market beforehand, giving them some updates on what's happening. And then I look at the market. You don't have to be in the stock market all day to make money. Just about 2 or 3 times first in the morning between like 8:30 Central to about 10:00, and you can make easily 30%, 40% return, then go about the rest of your day.
That's crazy. I can't even, I can't even picture it. Okay, so what if I said to you, I just want to do the penny stock? Is that something still existing?
If you told me you just wanted to do penny stock, I say you got a better chance investing in something else. Slow return because it is a penny stock. I like investing in companies that are already established. Where I know I'm going to get money, not just on the whim of a possibility. So that's why when you trade options, you know, these companies are— their only goal is to return value to their investors. So Walmart, big corporate, Tesla, that's their goal is to make the stock go higher and control that. So we're just trading off of that information.
Okay, that really does make a lot of sense. So thank you. Like, I can't— you know, I'm being so Transparent that I really never really understood it, never could wrap my head around it. But I, I feel like at 61, it's probably time, right, to like even understand. And especially if I was talking to my son, especially if it means something to me, like if I'm invested in a company that actually I really believe in them, then so will you help me to figure out like kind of like find out what it is that gets me ticking and then I recommend.
Yes.
Are you allowed to recommend?
Yeah, I recommend companies for you to trade. I also— we go through a criteria. So let's say you say, I only want to deal with $100 strategy, whatever I can afford in $100. That's what we do. Most people like to come in to me and say, well, how much do I need? I want to put— I got my tax refund, I got $2,000, let's do that. I'm like, hey, slow down, you're not ready yet. Let's start with a smaller amount, something just like anything that you do, you don't just jump out here and just go buy the most expensive car. You do a little research. You find out what's the mileage, how far does it go, when do I have to change it, how the seat belts are. You test drive it. So you don't want to test drive with $2,000. You want them to use a smaller amount. And then I look at things that you like. Procter Gamble, like what tissue paper do you use? What products do you use? What stores do you shop at? So that's going to make it resonate more with you if you're a Target shopper. Then you might want to trade Target. You go in the store every day, you see that they have markdowns, you see prices are going up. If you see prices going up in companies that you're— you shop at, then you know that company is trying to increase revenue. So they're doing things to step to keep the company afloat. But you really don't realize that you use and, and you are in the stock market. You just don't know it. You're just not applying inside of it because you shop every day. H-E-B, Kroger, Walmart. You go in these stores all the time.
OK, I want to be your client. I love— I like you. I love your knowledge. I like the way that you present it. And I feel like I could learn from you. This would be something else. I think my father in heaven would be looking down going, Adrienne, wow, you're checking the stock market. I really don't even know— OK, I'm in. We're going to talk later.
I want to—
no, I'm not even kidding around. This is serious because this is— probably that piece that I've been missing in my life, just trying to understand something. And it's embarrassing to admit that I don't understand it. So, all right. I'm so glad that you said yes and that you— and you're fantastic. So this, like, you should have your own podcast.
And this is something you can do with your son. This is not just you. Once you learn, you can teach him or you guys can learn together. I like for families to learn together because once you start learning, you're going to want to talk to him and he's going to have no clue what you're talking about and wave you off and say, like, I don't want to hear this, Mom. I don't know. So you guys can sit down together, learn together. This is something you can bond over. And you, you'll start seeing things like, I'm seeing more Toyotas on the road. I wonder if they're tradable. It's just things, the light bulbs that go off each day, and you're like, can I make money off this? Can I make money off my podcast? Can I make money off all of these companies? And you'll start seeing dollars everywhere.
Oh my God, I love you. Okay, thank you. We'll get my husband involved too. Though he does have a traumatic brain injury. So I wish you luck on that one. But we'll try. We'll try. We'll try. We'll try. We're probably on the same level, him and I, Alan and I. All right. I hate to have to go because I just— there's something about you. I just— I want to go to Texas and meet you. But I'm in Daytona Beach. You come to me.
You come here. Now, that would be lovely.
That would be amazing.
You don't have to learn— we don't have to meet in person. We do it over Zoom.
So I love that. I just want to— I like you. I could just— I'm sorry, just being honest. I like you and I want to learn from you. So thank you so much for saying yes and being bold, brave, and beautiful. And I'm really excited about this. I'll get all your contact information, so email it to me with your headshot and we'll get it all together. Thank you for being patient in the first few minutes. I really appreciate it. And a big hug. I feel like you're my new friend. I think you're gonna bring— you're gonna give me something, uh, knowledge that I don't have, and that's That's a big deal. That's a big deal. It is. Thank you. I'll see you soon. I'll talk to you later. All right, and the stream— after I was so
