Good morning, gang. April is Financial Literacy Month, and with the kids out of school, no work to report to, and no March Madness or NBA games on TV, it leaves us with a lot of time on our hands. Now, to save you from going stir-crazy at home and at the same time save you some money, here are 4 things that you can do to increase your financial literacy during the stay-at-home order. Number 1, read a book. Find a financial subject that interests you and get a book on it. Now, here are a few of my all-time favorite books: The Millionaire Next Door, Building Wealth One House at a Time, and of course, The Super Duper Simple Book on Money. Number 2, subscribe to a podcast. There are thousands of podcasts covering all types of financial subjects. 3, YouTube it. Now, this is one of my favorite all-time ways to consume information. I absolutely love listening to different financial experts on all sorts of topics. Now, you will never run out of cool videos to watch. And number 4, take an online short course. You see, there's never been a better time to gain a new financial or career skill than now. In closing, with those of you that have school-age kids between the 5th grade and 12th grade, they can tune in to a free online course. It's called the ABCs of Money. With Uncle Alan. Every Tuesday and Thursday for the entire month of April, your kids can take my 30-minute lessons.
