Alan Solarsh analyzes gold trading in a sideways channel, noting a potential bearish fractal but hesitating to trade it. COT data shows strong long positioning, and a doji formation signals fading momentum, so he's waiting to see if institutions build demand or stack shorts before committing to a direction.

So I can see that we're in a sideways move, sideways channel, and I'm also expecting a new fractal on one of these candle— that candles that's going to form, and that's going to be a bearish fractal, which means that the price could very possibly move south. So let's say you were to trade this, which fractal do you use? So Bill Williams says you use the nearest fractal closest to the price. I have a different theory. My theory is that one actually needs to look at the entire channel, and one needs to then make a decision based on the channel and other factors. So let's say the price does go south to here. Do we enter a bear trade on this fractal over here? Because that's the last one, uh, in, in this channel. And it's quite a tough question because we're also in— about to enter into demand zones here. So I don't know if I would enter a bearish trade especially on gold when COT is long in the demand zones. So I'm just going to wait it out and see exactly how this thing pans out. I do currently have a hedge trade in play, and I don't want to be closing it right now, especially with this, with this doji that has formed. It's a gravestone doji. There we go. Let me just enlarge it. Little gravestone doji. It's more like a gravestone spinning top, but, um, yeah, one just needs to be very careful here. As I said, momentum has been lost and we need to wait and see what the institutions are doing. So this may very well be demand that's forming, so they are buying and they're placing buy orders here, or or they, they are placing shorts and they're stacking shorts, in which case the price will then go south. So we just have to wait for the institutions to make up their mind, and then we'll know what direction we're going. I'll see you on the groups. Cheers.
