Short YouTube advice clip by Alli Peck advising job candidates to stop centering interviews on themselves and instead frame past skills and experiences in terms of how they will help the prospective employer (e.g., describe how project management experience will help with the company’s future product launch, including lessons learned from challenges).
Chapters
The biggest mistake people are making in interviews is they're talking too much about themselves. Interviews are not about you. They're how your skills and experience can help the company progress. You need to be so selfless in your language. I'll give you an example. Don't tell them how you have project management experience in the past with product launches. Tell them that your project management experience with product launches in the past can help them with their new product launch in the future. Bonus points if you tell them about the hardships and challenges you encountered along the way and what you've learned now. That's how you ace an interview, that's how you wow the recruiter, and that's how you get the job.
