A short YouTube clip by Alli Peck ("Is this ethical? #interviewtips") where she asks whether it’s ethical to interview with companies you don’t intend to join. She argues yes — treat such interviews as practice to reduce nerves, improve answers, and practice negotiating, and asks viewers if they think it’s ethical and whether they’ve done it.

Should you still interview with a company even though you're not really interested, but they've invited you to interview? I say, hell yeah. Look, the only way you're going to get better at interviewing is if you practice interviewing. And I know that you get nervous when you interview at a company when you really, really want the job. So why not interview at places where you don't really, really want the job? And then you'll be less nervous and you'll actually give good answers to interview questions. I'm guilty of doing this, Gu. Go to these interviews anyways. Even if you don't really think you'll take the job, practice negotiating. Then you'll feel a lot more comfortable when you are interviewing for a job you do really want. Let me know if you think this is ethical and if you have done anything like this.
