Short YouTube video by Alli Peck giving practical job-search advice: stay strategic despite a weak market by nurturing your network (reach out politely, avoid asking favors if you haven't spoken in >2 months), and focus on showing — not just telling — your skills. The speaker invites viewers to comment their job title for tailored ideas to showcase skills.
The job market sucks right now, but we're not going to be discouraged. We're going to be strategic. Now is the time to nurture your network. Reach out to people who may be able to help you get a job, and just say hi, Happy Holidays. Don't ask them for a favor if you haven't spoken to them in more than two months. This is also a time for showing off your skills. Remember, in job searching that showing is much more powerful than telling somebody you have a skill like on your resume. If you need help getting creative on how to showcase your skills, let me know in the comments what your job title is and I'll see if I can come up with some ideas. Ideas.
