Alli Peck recounts a personal anecdote where her long-standing fear—HR calling about her social media—became real. At a previous employer HR contacted her after a complaint about one of her videos; they reassured her, said they were fans, and asked her to add a short disclaimer to her posts clarifying the views were her own.
My worst fear has always been that HR calls me one day and says, hey, we need to talk to you about your social media. And it happened once. A couple of companies ago, it finally happened, and I was terrified. I thought they were going to let me go. HR said, hey, we saw one of your videos and somebody actually called us and complained, so we have to follow up legally. But we just want to let you know we're big fans and it's actually fine. But you just need to put a little tiny disclaimer at the end of your post saying, you know, these are my thoughts about those in my company. I'm like, oh, I can do that. Sure.
