Not give 100% when starting a new job. Instead, ramp up your efforts as you onboard. Over time, it's best to operate at about 80% efficiency on average. And when a crisis does happen at work or your project faces an emergency, that's when you give your 100%. If you start at 100%, you're not only setting expectations for your manager, but you're also potentially setting yourself up for burnout later on. Nobody can maintain work, life balance and a healthy mental state if they're firing on all cylinders all the time.
