A solo road trip becomes a meditation on loneliness. Eight hours driving to a hiking spot, most of it alone, led the speaker to realize that solitude isn't something to fear but a chance to get closer to God.

I went on this trip by myself recently. I pretty much had this challenge for myself where I found this hiking spot the night prior and I just traveled all the way over there. 8 hours that I was on the road to and from. And you know, I didn't even spend that much time at the destination. If anything, I spent more time on the road. You know, I think one of the common battles that people all fight is this whole idea of loneliness. I believe that being alone is absolutely okay, and in fact, I would go so far as to even say it's necessary for our growth. And I'm no different. I fight loneliness just like everybody else, and maybe that's why I challenged myself to do this. And so I'm leaving you with this message that I learned from my trip: Do not fear being alone, because the moment you're by yourself is actually the moment you're closest with God.
