The "3-Second Pause" That Will Save Your Marriage and Your Mornings

In this solo coaching video, family‑driven coach Ambereen Hameed addresses the common habit of reaching for a phone first thing in the morning and explains how it detaches individuals from their loved ones and invites chaos into the day. She illustrates the problem with a client story about Nick and Sarah, who rediscovered connection by replacing the phone with a gentle morning touch and kiss. Ambereen proposes a three‑part solution: a one‑week no‑phone challenge, a "3‑second pause" between waking and reaching for the phone, and a three‑item gratitude practice (personal, family, marriage). She claims this simple shift has transformed hundreds of couples, and she offers a free downloadable workbook to help viewers implement the pause. The video ends with an encouraging sign‑off.

Have you ever found yourself waking up and reaching for your phone? Well, if you are doing this, you are not alone. Most Americans, most people in the world nowadays, the first thing that they do is they reach for that phone. Now we're going to dive in and talk about what impact that plays in your life when you are reaching for your phone the first thing in the morning. But before that, hey, if we've never met, my name is Ambereen, and as your family-driven coach, It is my intention to make your family development a priority, folks. So let's dive in, shall we? If you are someone who's done this, or the first thing that you do is you reach for your phone, I want you to comment down below and say phone first. No hate, no judgments in our community. We just want to find out how we are so similar as human beings, as parents, as husbands, as wives, that we feel like we're all going through very similar challenges. I'm sure you can relate to that. What happens when the first thing that you do is that you pick up your phone? Well, you kind of become detached from the reality, become detached from what's important. You become detached from what actually matters to you. Now, what would change in your life instead of picking up that phone, you reached over and gave your spouse a kiss? Do you see what I'm saying? A simple gesture, the first thing that you do, even if your spouse is asleep and not yet awake, they will love it. And this is what Nick and Sarah really talked about. Sarah said, Hey Ambereen, there was a time where I would wake up before him and I really missed that, a time where we just cuddled and connected. Now when I wake up, he's, you know, doing his spiritual work, literally has a blanket over his head which tells me do not disturb. And as you know me, I love to challenge that approach and I said, well, why do you need it from him? She said, it just builds this and fosters this remarkable connection between us. I said, great, don't you think he wants that too? So once we came up with a plan on how she's going to disturb him politely, gently, she just kind of asked, hey, would it be okay for me to tap you on your shoulder in the morning hours and just get a nice hug and a kiss from you? And his eyes sparkled, like he was like, yeah, like yes, why? Because He too was missing that connection from his remarkable wife. Now, when you pick up that phone first thing in the morning, the other thing that you're doing is you are letting all this chaos enter into your life. If you're somebody who works pretty hard and has a lot of responsibilities, you can relate to me when I say that you're the one who has their phone in their hand while brushing their teeth in that morning hour where you're like, Oh crap, that email came out. Oh my God, I gotta look at that. Gotta tend to that. Well, you're tending to somebody else's agenda when you're not getting paid for that time. Now instead of picking up your phone and brushing your teeth alongside with your phone, wouldn't it be amazing if you just put the phone down and attended to your kids fully present before the chaos hits? When you touch that phone, you Your mind goes into scatter zone, like literally scattering all over because it doesn't know what to focus on. It hasn't had a pause, it hasn't had a clarity, it doesn't know what you want. So it's trying to pull out everything, making you lose time, energy, and that connection between your loved ones. So I want to challenge you for 1 week not to touch your phone when you wake up. But I'm green. That's where my alarm is set. Wonderful. Get an alarm clock, and until that arrives, just press. You know, acknowledge the phone that yes, you've gotten the alarm. That yes, you've woken up. When your feet touch that ground, I want you to think about three things that you're grateful for. Wouldn't you be grateful for something that was related to you? Another one related to your family, and a third one related to your. to your marriage. So something like this, your feet touch the ground, you wake up and you say, I am grateful for the breath that I get to have, which wasn't promised to me. I am grateful for my kids and their health and their well-being. I am grateful that I have a partner lying down next to me who I can depend and rely on. That simple shift versus the phone will transform your life. And I know this. Why? Because it's worked on hundreds of couples that came before you. If you are that parent who really wants to prioritize your home, if you are that spouse that recognizes that your marriage is on the back burner, I want to encourage you to click the link in the description.
