Today I'm going to go through 3 real strategies of making passive income with Framer's Creator Program with real examples of designers who are actually doing it, like Maxim, who's made $1,000 per month without selling a single template, or Hamza, who's made $22,000 per month with templates and partner rewards, and some other interesting examples that you don't want to miss. And you want to watch until the end of this video where I share a free Framer template where you can sell your own digital products like Framer templates. Template inception. So I got to do this because I'm talking about passive income. Every passive income strategy requires some level of upfront work and some occasional maintenance. There's actually no such thing as 100% passive income, which is why I'm rating each strategy with an effort level and an earning potential level. To keep things grounded in reality. Okay, so let's talk about the pure affiliate play strategy by starting off with Maxim, a Belgium-based Framer and no-code product designer who's earned $1,000 per month passively without selling a single template. So how exactly did he do this? Well, by signing up to Framer's Creator Program, he's able to generate 50% of every sale for the first 12 months. So anyone who actually uses his affiliate link and purchases the plan, he earns 50% of that sale. Now I know what you're probably thinking, don't you need some huge social following to be able to make money and promote it on all your videos? No, actually, Maxim simply gets clients to sign up to Framer using his own links. That's it. But where does Maxim actually get clients? He's currently active on Contra, a popular freelance platform where he's earned over $25,000 in client projects. And I'm ranking this category as low effort because if you're already working with clients who need websites, all you have to do is build their websites in Framer and get them to to use your link. So that's pretty easy if you ask me. Now, if you haven't worked with web design clients, getting those clients and then having them use your link might be a little bit more difficult. But I'm assuming you probably work with web design clients if you're watching this video. Earning potential, I'm also going to categorize this as low because you can only get as much affiliate income as projects that you complete. So that's not very scalable in terms of passive income. But what is very scalable is this next strategy. Now, what's interesting about creating templates for Framer is that they actually don't take any commissions from your template sales. Literally, you keep 100%. On top of that, if someone buys your template and purchases a plan, you also get 50% of that revenue for the first 12 months. That's really, really cool. Which brings us to a great example I love to highlight in my videos, which is Hamza. He went from making $2,000 per month to $22,000 per month selling Framer templates, and he only has 11 templates, by the way, which makes this number even more impressive. So this is his revenue breakdown as of March of 2025. His template sales was $12,400, and his Framer partner rewards, aka affiliate commissions that I talked about earlier, was about $10,000. So he sells these templates on his own website, but he also sells Framer templates on Framer. They have a template marketplace. So if you're wondering what sort of templates actually sell, Framer University analyzed search demand and supply and categorized comprised the most profitable categories, which is e-commerce templates, landing pages, real estate templates, and portfolio templates. So personally, I like to think of the Framer marketplace like TikTok in 2020. Hear me out. Right now there's tons of demand for templates and not a lot of supply. The people who are taking advantage of this are basically going to become Charli D'Amelio of Framer. I'm tired of going through washroom. I'm late. Promise. But realistically though, How much effort is required to make this strategy work? Personally, I'm giving this a low effort rating because learning Framer is insanely easy and you'd be surprised how fast you can build templates, especially since Framer feels like tools I use every day, like Figma. So from a designer perspective, I don't think this is a lot of effort. Just make sure you're following Framer's template requirements though, and choosing a profitable niche. Those are the two biggest factors, I think. But what about its earning potential though? I'm categorizing this as triple dollar sign high. If you build multiple high-quality templates and stack them with your affiliate affiliate commissions, this can easily become a 4-figure or even 5-figure per month passive income source that we've seen with Hamza. So yeah, do it, bro. Framer-powered subscriptions. Okay, so this is by far one of the most interesting strategies that I've researched into that I don't think many designers are actually really even thinking about. Let me introduce you to Bassett. He's not only making passive income with Framer templates and affiliate commissions, he's actually built a subscription-based Framer site where he sells gradient backgrounds. So I know what you're thinking. It sounds unreal. He's selling gradient backgrounds, but it's true. And when I figured out how much money he was actually making from this, I was— it was even— I was like, what am I doing? What am I doing with my life? He's actually making $4,000 per month selling gradient backgrounds. Absolutely insane. And by the way, that's on top of the templates and rewards he's getting, which amounts to about $2,000 per month, making his total total passive income, $6,000 per month in the month of March. That's when you disclose these numbers. Now before we get really excited about this, this might seem like a really easy thing to do, but I actually think that it's much harder than it looks. You have to create the Framer site, set up memberships, manage subscriptions, and actually figure out what to sell, which I think is the hardest part. So I'm ranking this as high effort. However, its earning potential level is also really high because the sky's the limit. You can create a viral product that people subscribe to, whether that's a gradient background, whether that's a prompt template that you're using for ChatGPT, or whatever it is that you decide to create.
