Andrew Hamada explains why raw Amazon data and API exports are useless until transformed. Amazon reports come as text that needs numeric cleaning, and JSON from APIs must be mapped into schemas before Excel, Power BI, or Google Data Studio can read them. Reason Automation handles these transformation steps automatically.

A critical step in preparing data for analysis and reporting and then taking action on it is actually transforming the data. Reason Automation helps brands do this in numerous different ways. A specific example would be if you're downloading reports from Amazon, you're probably used to them coming out as all text, regardless of what data type it should be stored as if you want to use that data. Oftentimes it means that you're going through and formatting all those numbers into different numeric types or data types. Reason Automation is doing all that for you. Another example is a lot of APIs sound very exciting to brands and they think, wow, this API sounds like it has everything I need. I'll just build an adapter and go get the data. What they don't realize is that those APIs often output data in a language called JSON, which is not readable immediately. You have to take that and interpret the JSON, transform it into a data schema, and then can be interpreted more easily by Excel, Power Bi or Google Data Studio.
