Andrew Hamada (YouTube, Apr 13, 2023) explains that Amazon sellers often cannot fully prepare for sudden deprecations or schema changes because Amazon’s engineering teams publish updates inconsistently. He recommends subscribing to the SP API and Advertising API RSS feeds so sellers can receive more granular, timely notices about new features, deprecations, and data-schema changes. A lot of our clients ask us is there something that we could have done better to prepare for this or make sure that we're ready in advance for the sudden deprecation or change in a data schema? And the answer unfortunately is probably not. You're never going to be able to completely control how much for notice you get from Amazon because unfortunately their engineering team model means that a lot of the work is done by small individual teams that don't have a unified communications pipeline and if they do, it's only going to be through periodic release notes that may or may not be timely enough for your purpose. However, a lot of the individual teams have started publishing their releases and updates on a more granular basis and in particular the SP API team and the advertising API teams now make their announcements and their releases through RSS feeds. I strongly recommend that everyone who sells on Amazon subscribe to those feeds so that you can see when Amazon makes announcements about new things, deprecated data sets, etc.
