Dan Sullivan's Gap vs Gain idea: stop measuring yourself against distant targets and start counting progress from where you started. Celebrating gains, new skills, and lessons from failures keeps momentum alive and improves your odds of reaching goals.

If you want to increase the chances of success at meeting your goals or targets individually and for your team, I invite you to tap into this powerful concept called Gap vs Gain by Dan Sullivan. So the idea is really, really simple. When we have large targets that we have to hit, we often in our meetings look at where we are and compare that to the goal that we want to achieve. So we focus on the gap instead. Invite the team to first start by celebrating the gain. And the gain can be from where you started at the beginning of the year to where you are in terms of the target. The gain can be the actions that you took that might not be getting results, but in the next week, week after a quarter are going to come up with results. The gains might be skills that you're picking up that are allowing you to pivot learnings that you're having from initiatives that you take that did not work. All of these. If we continue to make into a core part of how we show up and interact, counting our gains while not losing sight of our goals significantly increases our chances of achieving our goals and keep the energy and momentum up.
