If you are looking for a mentor and you have identified someone that you think would be ideal, they don't know you yet, but you've seen them speak at a couple of meetings or some way, somehow you've had some exposure to them. Ask them. Approach them. Approach them to be your mentor, giving a rationale as to why. Right? Have a mini elevator speech, whether it's in person or sending an email. Be explicit. Take the risk. Most of the time they'll say, yes, I've seen this work out 100 times. Just go for it. It's such a compliment to be asked. And the really main obstacle would be, do they already have too many people that they're mentoring, or have they made a recent big transition? Just have the courage. Listen to the tales that Ashish and I have shared. Like this could change your life.
