Anxiety is universal and not a personal failing. Rather than fighting it, sit with the discomfort and ask what you need in that moment. Self-compassion creates the space where positive thinking and coping practices can actually work.

We need to kind of embrace the fact that, wow, I'm anxious, this hurts, you know, and just like allow yourself to be with that, the pain of the anxiety. Remember that you aren't alone. It's so human to feel anxiety. And also we don't have to take it personally. Like my son has, you know, a lot of, he's autistic and he has neurological differences. We don't choose to be anxious. We didn't choose our brain wiring. You know, we don't need to take it personally. This is arising. We can feel warmth and care. We can ask ourself, what do I need right now? And that caring kind of more spacious mindset is precisely what then allows us to do the steps of the positive thinking or the exercise or all those other positive things we're supposed to do. But go from one to the other without any step in between, it's very, very hard. Yeah. Yeah.
