Here's a tip to help you be happier, healthier and have more love and meaning and that is start to develop the habit of meeting your pains with compassion. You see life has suffering that is a part and parcel of our existence. The way we can learn to meet that pain and not make that pain into prolonged suffering is to really meet that pain with compassion. So the next time you find yourself suffering maybe something didn't go your way, maybe you got hurt, maybe somebody said a mean word that hurt. You just start by focusing on your breath and sending a breath of self compassion to that part of you that is hurting. Maybe you can even hold your arms and just give yourself a hug. As we start to turn towards our pain and meeting it with compassion we can start to realize that we don't need to numb it and we don't need to act it out because like every other emotion, like every other thing in my pain is also temporary.
