A short YouTube monologue connecting quantum physics (the observer effect) as a metaphor for mindfulness: observing thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations changes one’s experience. The speaker invites listeners to practice stepping back and becoming an observer of a thought or emotion and to notice how their reality shifts.

Science, quantum physics in particular, clearly highlight that there is no impartial observing. The act of observing changes what's being observed. That moment changes it, because whatever energy is imparted to see changes the direction of the particle. The same is true for our own mind. So if you are experiencing rather than being caught and becoming the thought and emotion, stepping back and observing the thought and emotion is a wonderful exercise of awareness and seeing how you change your reality, how you change the reality, what comes up for you. So I invite you tomorrow, take any thought, take any emotion that you're experiencing. As Louis suggests, just become an observer of the emotion and the body's feelings and the beliefs around it, and notice what opens up for you. Something will change, and we are curious to know what that is.
