Here are five things that really helped me progress in my career quite rapidly and be successful across a range of companies that I worked at, including Trotter, KPMG, Void and last 17 years at McKinsey. Number one be the one to take initiative, especially when there are opportunities that come up. There are those who step back and those who step forward. Be the one who steps forward. Number two is keep learning. When we focus on continuing to invest time in building our skills no matter how busy we are, little by little that 1% adds up. Number three build a personal brand of somebody who is easy to work with, who is knowledgeable, who works hard and is selfless. People trust those and opportunities will come your way. Number four Network effectively and find mentors who can be incredibly helpful in guiding you, helping you and giving you hard earned advice so you can make new mistakes, not the ones that others have made before. And last but not the least, be adaptable. There's so many who don't like change, but if you are able to truly embrace change and adaptability, you will see that you will climb a lot further, a lot faster in no matter what profession you are in.
