Ashish Kothari argues AI can mimic empathy but cannot feel it, since compassion requires intent and sentience. Humans must cultivate compassionate intent while using AI as a tool to amplify those outcomes in leadership and feedback.
Chapters
AI doesn't have compassion. It cannot have. AI can have knowledge about empathy. Like, what emotions do humans have? How do we bring those emotions forth in people when we're a leader? How can we give feedback in a companion in a pathetic way? But AI cannot act with compassion, because compassion is an intent. And intent can only come from a sentient being. Like, I feel for you as she. And therefore, I'm going to do what I'm doing now because I know the best thing for you. AI can't feel. So the uniqueness of humans is to have the intent of compassion and then leverage all the algorithms of AI to set that in compassionate directions. So, humans, we need to develop that compassion if we want to be relevant in the future. That will be more driven by AI or technology and data and so on than it is today.
