Hi, dear friends. In this week's tip on making happiness your competitive edge, learn to cultivate compassion and expand your heart's capacity for compassion. So imagine if you took a fistful of salt and put it into a glass of water. The water becomes unwritten. But if we put that same fist of salt into a freshwater lake, what happens? The quality of the water doesn't change. People can still drink from it, wash or cook from that water. The capacity of that freshwater lake is immense. That even a fistful of salt doesn't have the effect that it does on that cup. It has a higher capacity to take it. Just like that. Our hearts, when we are smaller, have limited capacity for compassion. We can't tolerate other shortcomings, actions, or the words that they might say. But if we can, just like the river, just like freshwater lake, expand our capacity to be able to take the salt, to be able to take the sufferings, the hardships, the shortcomings, we can improve our experience in life. We can be happier and create more happiness around us.
