What's up you guys? I am back from the grocery store so I figured we would do a little four week gut protocol grocery haul. So I'll give people a second to start logging on and then I'm going to take you guys through what I got from the grocery store so that I can be prepped for the week. I'm trying to give you guys as much insight into how I meal prep, how I meal plan, how I attack for a week up protocol because I am not new to this. I've been doing it for so long so. So hopefully the way I do it can help give you guys some ideas as well. I will be the first to tell you, I am not somebody that has meal plans set for the whole week. I have no idea what I want to eat for dinner tomorrow night. So I try to grocery shop in a way that I just have stuff that I can grab and make meals really easily. So let's just dig in. This is going to be in no particular order. I've talked about how much I love miracle noodles are like a really fast go to. They basically don't even count as a container. They're all fiber, they're 5 calories. But I love to just put pasta sauce on this. Sometimes I'll saute up a bunch of veggies with it, put pasta sauce on it. So just a great way to get in more fiber and more veggies. I always get my baby bell peppers because I can dip these in hummus. I can dip them in guacamole if I need to. I can chop them up and throw them like in the frying pan for breakfast with some some tofu or something like that. So that's just a quick versatile one to have on hand. And I like them smaller cuz they're easier to travel with if I'm on the run. But I can also cut them up and prep them into a meal. These are just one of my favorites. I love mushrooms. This is called the chef sampler. I tend to throw these into a scramble at breakfast time. My voice is getting better you guys but it's not 100% yet. I am still very tired.
Baby carrots, another veggie I have love them for again guac hummus just stack on them on their own. Variety is key. Now I have learned quite a bit about how much I and Dom eat in a week. So I'm pretty good at guessing like or planning appropriately. It might take you a little bit of time to figure that out. So I would say err on the side of caution and buy less instead of buying more until you learn what that is. But for you, yes, those were tiny mushrooms. Okay, These ones I got, this is just a fun treat for me. Normally I'll make my potatoes myself, but the grocery store I shop at, they make these and they're so good. They're purple potatoes and all they have on them is olive oil, rosemary, a little salt and pepper. So I will reheat them. I don't always buy things. Meal prepped out for me already, you guys. But being that I just got home after two weeks and I'm kind of exhausted, I'm taking a little bit of the easy way out. So just know that. Okay? I always buy frozen broccoli. I buy several of these. They're mixed in a couple different bags, but I'll throw them in with my breakfast. I'll saute them up as a side. I love broccoli, so I think I bought like three of these, but we'll dig through. I bought an eggplant. I bought a smaller one, but I love eggplant done in the air fryer. So I'll just spray it with a little olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, throw it in the air fryer. So good. Just another way to get in a side of veggies. You could also do a modified like eggplant parmesan. So I would soak it a little bit in water just to soften it up a little bit, bake it, do a little pasta sauce on there. Obviously we're not doing dairy during four week up protocol, but you could if you wanted to do like a cashew cheese on top of there, like a non dairy cheese, you could do that. Or nutritional yeast on top of there. I personally just love eggplant and pasta sauce, so that is another way that you can do it. I did buy tofu. Okay. So my grocery store sells these smaller packs, which I love. So I use one usually in the morning if I'm making like a tofu scramble, I don't have to open a huge thing up, but no big deal if you do. So I did buy tofu. I did buy unsweetened coconut yogurt because I want to make the acai snack bowls that Bobby did for four week gut protocol that that recipe is in the program. Super easy to make. Great, nice, light snack. You feel like you're getting like a little ice cream type bowl, but way better for you. Great way to get in more plants. Oh, my God, you guys are asking so many questions. Hold on.
Is There a minimum age that you would recommend for this program? I have a kiddo who was just diagnosed with an allergy to dairy, egg, and tree nuts. Her gut needs a reset, but she's only three. I mean, like, you can feed them all the same foods, but I would definitely touch base with the pediatrician because they're not going to eat the same amount of containers that we're gonna eat. And she's growing, so she's gonna need her nutrients. So in terms of the overall concept, of course. But I would check with the pediatrician to say, like, how much what Things like that to make sure that you're getting her what she needs. Okay. I did get a little tempeh. This is the smoked bacon one. Dom actually really likes this in the morning as well, so I got that for him. Then I did get. Okay, you guys, I did take the easy way out again. I told you, I don't always take the easy way out, but I did, because I use onions so much in so many different things. I bought them chopped up white and red. I'll throw these in a scramble. I'll use them like when we're made. If I'm making, like, some of the fixate. Different recipes, like the must have meatloaf and stuff like that, we throw onions in there. The fact that they're chopped up just saves me a little time when. When I go to make something, like, for dinner later at night, and I haven't maybe planned that far in advance. Do I eat carrots raw? I do. But remember, four, we got protocol. We do talk about cooking your vegetables the first week, so it's easier for you to break down. I am further along in my journey. I know what my body can and can handle. Okay. I also bought six silken tofu. This is different. It's softer, more water based. But so with this, I'm gonna actually make the tofu omelets, basically, that we have on fixate. So it's essentially, instead of using an egg to make an omelet shell, I use silken tofu. So I can make that ahead of time, and then I can just fill it with veggies. I've even done rotisserie chicken in there with it before as well. So. So you can think outside the box and think about how you want to mix and match and pair things, but I'm gonna make those. I did buy a little zucchini. I think we were out of ketchup, so I did buy an organic ketchup, y'. All. I talk about being A food ninja label. You always need to look at the back. This one does have a little bit of added Sugar. It has 3 grams of added sugar. So you would need to count that for your day in total grams of added sugar for the program. I got fresh strawberries. Dom will mow those down so quickly. I did get some lettuce, even though I have some lettuce growing on my lettuce grow tower. I just needed a little bit extra because I just planted some new stuff on there. Okay, here's another one. I cheated. Don't get mad at me. People are going to be like, oh, my God. All the plastic. I don't do this all the time. But, you guys, it's been a long two weeks. Dom loves watermelon. Like, it is going on a style. He will literally go through this in, like, two days. So if I want any, I have to get the really big one. So I did get a really big watermelon. So we got watermelon. We've got strawberries. I got blueberries in here somewhere. I got, like, a few different fruits. I did also just get this. It's basically like a type of sauerkraut. So I'll put this on salad. I'll put this on a burger. If I make, like, a taco shell or a taco of some sort, I'll put. I can put this on there. Lots of different ways you can use fermented veggies. Somebody said, what coconut yogurt do you recommend? This one is so delicious. That's the name of it. That's what I get. And got to get unsweetened. Okay, let's keep going. Little olive oil spray. For my pan, I got jicama. So this is what jicama looks like whole. You guys, we have a jicama hash brown recipe on fixate that is to die for. And it literally tastes like potato hash browns. Nothing wrong with making potato hash browns, but you only get so many yellow containers in a day. Why not get an extra veggie in? This is one that people usually wouldn't make this way. You know, you cut up jicama, dip it in guacamole or things like that. But the jicama hash browns are so easy to make. They're so good. Dom goes nuts for them. So I got a whole jicama to make that. So do you guys see how I have, like, little things in mind that I know are easy, that I know I can make, that I know are fast? And. And I buy the ingredients. I'm not going to make it all at once, because also what you don't want to do is you don't want to chop up your fruit and veggies too far in advance, because the second you chop them up and they get exposed to the air, they start to oxidize, which means they start to break down and lose nutrients. We don't want to lose nutrients. So I'm not one that will chop up a lot of my fruit and veggies ahead of time. The watermelon I bought chopped up because who likes cutting up a watermelon? Not me. I bought one avocado because I can put that. Well, first of all, I will just eat this with a little salt on it, but same thing. You can put it on top of different things. Burgers, chicken, salads. I did get a yam. So I can either make french fries with this, or I could just boil it, make basically, like, sweet potato out of it. I love french fries. So I will do air fryer French fries. I will literally just chop this up. I will spray it with my olive oil, little salt and. And garlic powder, throw it in the air fryer. Homemade french fries. It's basically a potato. It's good for you. Potatoes actually are really good. They have a lot of health benefits. I've talked about that a few times. So having some potatoes on hand, but you guys see how I don't buy, like. Didn't buy, like, 10 potatoes. I bought one of each. So I'm just keeping little things on hand here. Let's see what else. Okay, These are yogurts I bought for Dominic. These are coconut yogurts. I. This is the first time I saw this brand was at this grocery store by me. It's called Coco June. Now, these do have added sugar, 4 grams of added sugar in it, but. And it is coconut yogurt. So I have to double check. I think it falls. I think these are a little bit above what we would count as a blue container. But like I said, these are more for Dom, Just a healthier version for domestic than for me. So I got him those, because I will not buy him the ones that are, like, loaded with sugar and food dyes and things like that. And he loves those things. Okay, Spaghetti squash. Bought this. Y' all ready? I'm gonna make this right now. I already turned the oven on, so I'm heating the oven up. This thing goes in the oven 375 or 400 degrees for about 35 minutes, just like this. Watch. All I'm gonna do.
Put it in there. I'll set the timer 35 to 40 minutes from now. I will cut it open. It's so much easier to cut once it's cooked, scrape it all out. You've got spaghetti squash, you can put ground beef on there, ground chicken, ground turkey, pasta, pasta sauce, meatballs. Super easy idea. Another way to get a veggie in has the same texture as pasta, which I love. Like I said, my miracle noodles, same texture as pasta, which I love. There are substitutions that you can do this and it gets really easy. So that is cooking. Hopefully I don't forget to set the timer when I get off the this liability. Guys. Okay, these are one of my favorite little treat substitutions. One of them, it's a coconut date, counts towards purple. But when you have a sweet tooth at night, just one of these goes a long way. So I keep these on hand. Dom loves those also. Okay, I did get chopped up mango. I told you guys that earlier. Unsweetened coconut milk beverage. I use this to make my shakeologies with. What else we got? I did get one other potato.
I tend to make my pasta sauce, you guys, but if I'm gonna buy a store bought one, I like Roa's store bought marinara. So I will keep this on hand just in case. Bought a couple kiwi. Cause Dom and I both love this. So do you see again how many different plants we have here? Kiwi is one fruit. Strawberries, another mango, pineapple, blueberries. One, two, three, four. That's five different fruits, but not in huge quantities. When it comes to veggies, I have salad, two different kinds of onions, bell peppers, that's four. Zucchini, that's five. Eggplant, that's six. Two different types of potatoes, that's eight. Jicama is nine. Avocado is 10. Mushrooms is 11. Carrots are 12. I would count these miracle noodles as one. That's 13. Tofu and tempeh. 14, 15. I got my broccoli, that's 16. Like the dates, that's another one. That's 17. My kimchi, that's 18. Guys, it's easy to get plants in and make all these delicious types of meals. Okay. I also bought a couple of soups because obviously you hear my voice is like crazy raspy from all the talking. This is a butternut bisque soup made with bone broth. Broccoli puree soup made with bone broth. Again, I told you guys. And this is a carrot ginger. These are some things like normally I would make more stuff, but being having Been gone for two weeks and being tired and everything. I gave myself a little treat this week, but I will still be cooking plenty. Okay. Dom loves this bread. I'm trying to get him off gluten altogether, but he does love Dave's killer bread. So that's for him. For me, there's this bread that I get. It is a gluten free sourdough bread. So I keep this on hand, but I actually prefer the fixate gluten free bread the most. So this one I usually just keep in there. But I will make fixate gluten free bread as well. I got some rice cauliflower because I put rice cauliflower in my shakeology every day. It's another way to get another veggie in. It doesn't add any flavor to your shake. It just makes it more creamy. We're almost there. I told you I bought more broccoli. So here's the rest of the frozen broccoli and then.
You know, it's springtime, we're coming up on that warm weather. I did buy a mango strawberry blend of frozen fruit to also make with my shakeology. So there it is, you guys. That is my gut protocol grocery haul. I do have frozen meat in the freezer, like already. That's why I don't. You don't see any animal protein because I have ground chicken, ground beef, and ground turkey already in there. So I will pull one out at a time as I need it. But like I said, this is all it. This is the extent of how I meal plan and meal prep. I have ideas in my mind. I threw the spaghetti squash in there, so that's going to be made. And as I go throughout my days, I throw things together that I'm in the mood for. I do not cook tons ahead of time. I don't have time for that. I. I don't like that it. I'm not somebody who's big on eating food that's been cooked for several days. Like, I have no problem eating leftovers. But if something's been in there for two, three, four days, it just no longer appeals to me. But if it's fresh like this and I pull it out and make it, I have no problem. So make sure when you hit the grocery store, you shop mostly the perimeter. If you look at this, this is basically all stuff that goes in the freeze freezer or the refrigerator. You don't really see anything that goes in the pantry. I have quinoa in my pantry already. I have rice in my pantry already. But Everything else. This is real whole foods and it's gonna be delicious. I will show you guys as I go throughout the week what I make out of all of this stuff. All this stuff.
I actually think we have a fixate miso soup. Check it. I'm almost positive, like 99% sure we have a fixate miso soup and it's really good. So yes, you can do miso soup. Let's see. I'm just checking.
Can you use red wine vinegar? Yes, you can.
No, I will not be coming out with any more meal plans, sample meal plans, besides three day ones that I did for you guys. Like I said, I really didn't want to do them. And that's not a mean thing. That's not me trying to like not provide you guys with stuff. But you have to, you have to do the work. You have to do the work. You have to decide what you want to eat. You have to pay attention to how things make you feel. When you like, simple is better. When starting four, we got protocol. Don't want to be making huge recipes. If you're making big recipes with a lot of ingredients, it's be to going to be very hard to tell if something upsets your stomach. What in that recipe upset your stomach. So keep it simple. Eat your fruit, eat your whole, you know, plant based proteins or animal based proteins, your carbohydrates. But starting off simple is going to be better. You guys don't need me to do the work for you. You need to do the work. That's how you learn your body. So.
Any more options for yellow A, you guys? My biggest yellow options I do are rice and oats. And I already have both of those in my pantry, which is why you don't see them here. And since I only get one yellow a a day, it's not that hard for me to decide between them. But there it is. Stay tuned. Keep checking in with me. Like I said, I'll continue to share as I go. Oh, I actually did get myself. Where is it?
Where did I set it? I got myself sushi. I'm gonna eat sushi today. Oh, here it is. I got myself a little sushi today. So this will be like.
It'll be one of my yellow. It'll be my yellow A. And then it. I have maybe half of a red on there. Half of a red a. There's not a lot and there's some avocado. So I'll eat a little extra animal protein with this. But that's going to be my lunch right now. All right, I gotta go put all these groceries away before they sit out too long. But I appreciate you guys checking in. And like I said, keep following along. And I'll keep showing you guys as I continue on the journey.
