Autumn answers a common question about following the 80 Day Obsession "timed nutrition" rule when workouts occur very early (e.g., 5:00 AM). She restates the guideline to eat a pre-workout meal ~45–90 minutes before exercise but offers adaptations: eat earlier if you digest quickly, use a small/liquid meal (Shakeology counted as a red+purple), or have a very small snack (toast, banana) if you can’t stomach a full meal. She also reassures viewers that minor deviations (or using Foundational Fix) won’t prevent good results.

What's up, team AC welcome to another episode of Ask Autumn. Today we are taking on a question that seems to be a very popular one. I've been getting it for two years since the launch of 80 Day Obsession. And even though I've answered it in a few places, I'm going to answer it right here on YouTube for you guys as well. So we're talking about timed nutrition. There's a lot of questions that come in about time nutrition, but I think the biggest one I get is in regards to eating your first meal before your workout when you work out really early in the morning. So a lot of people work out at 5 o' clock in the morning. And the way time nutrition is described in 80 Day Obsession is that you're supposed to eat your Pre workout meal 45 minutes to an hour or an hour and a half before your workout. Okay? Now for a lot of people, that's totally doable because they work out a little bit later in the morning or afternoon or evening and you've been eating all throughout the day and so you can plan it. But for my early morning workout people, I know that that can be a little bit more of a challenge and you get discouraged by it and you think that you can't do 80 day obsession or you can't follow time nutrition because of that one meal. You guys, that is not the case. It is just one meal. Okay? So we're not gonna freak out about it that much. First of all, that being said, there's a few different ways you can handle it. If you're like me and you can work out on a full stomach, you can get up, you can eat your pre workout meal and go right into your workout if that works. For the biggest thing is that you don't want to get cramps or have trouble digesting your food or feel like you're going to throw up during your workout. Which is why I suggest anywhere from an hour and a half, two hours before your workout, because a lot of people need more time to digest. So like I said, if you're like me and you can digest kind of while you're in the middle of the workout, great, have that pre workout and go right into it. The other thing that you can do is you can flip flop your pre workout meal and meal option number one. If you notice in your paperwork, meal option number one is a smaller meal. It's like a red and a purple or a red, purple and a teaspoon, depending on what bracket you're in. You can make that your Shakeology super fast and easy to make. Takes about a minute, maybe a minute and a half to make. It's gonna count as a red. You throw a purple in there, you've got your red and your purple. You could throw a teaspoon in of nut butter or something like that. If you get a teaspoon with it and drink that and go into your workout. For a lot of people that is doable because it's not as hard to digest because it's already a liquid. The other thing that you can do is if neither of those work for you is to just have something even smaller. Like if you are like autumn, I can't have this meal right before I work out. I just can't digest that fast. I'm not going to get up earlier, maybe have a piece of toast, maybe you have a banana, whatever. Have something small so that you put some sort of fuel source into your body and then go do your workout. Okay. But it's okay if it's not an hour, hour and a half or two hours before the workout, as long as it doesn't make you feel sick. That is the most important thing is that a fuel source goes in of some sort. So like I said, if it's not the full big meal, it could be meal option one or it could be even just a piece of fruit or a piece of toast, something small and that it doesn't make you feel sick while you're doing the workout. Other than that, you guys, you can do time, nutrition, you can follow everything else to a T. You're still going to get great results. Or if that freaks you out because you can't follow it absolutely perfectly, you can still do 80 day obsession and just do foundational fix, meaning you're going to mix and match your containers however you see fit. You're going to eat your containers throughout the day however you see fit, and you're still going to have great balanced macronutrients throughout the day. You're going to be eating in the proper portion sizes, you're going to be fueling your body and you do every day of session. It's important to stick to the plan as best you can, but you don't want to let some of the details of the plan stop you from trying the whole program just because there might be a little component that doesn't work in your skill schedule. Okay, so there it is. That is how you guys can take on your pre workout meal with time nutrition and 80 day obsession. Make sure you subscribe and tune in. I've got new ask autumns coming to you every single week. I'll see you guys next time. Bye.
